In a compelling cross-border collaboration, Vietnamese artist Vu Thao My teamed up with Gelo Rivera of the P-pop group BGYO for their new single, “Zealous.”

The creative process began with the beat, which Thao My envisioned as a rhythmic force that moves naturally. During the songwriting phase, the track’s driving energy inspired a “cat and mouse” theme—a metaphorical hunting game where one must choose to be the hunter or the prey. This concept blossomed into a cinematic, performance-driven world characterized by a dark and blurry aesthetic.

The working relationship between the two stars was seamless, defined by mutual respect and a lack of creative friction. Thao My praised Gelo’s professionalism, noting that their time spent in the studio was both high-quality and fun.

Gelo echoed this sentiment, expressing his pride in seeing two distinct cultures merge to create something unique and beautiful. He noted that the project serves as a powerful statement on the immense talent and passion within the music industries of both Vietnam and the Philippines, proving that when these traits are combined, the result is nothing short of greatness.

Looking ahead, Vu Thao My expressed her desire to eventually meet the rest of the BGYO members and hopes for further collaborations with the group in the future.
