Faye Webster played her first show in the Philippines on July 21, and for a few dreamy hours, the crowd at the Filinvest Tent in Alabang had the tttttime of their lives. The show was part of her Underdressed at the Symphony tour.

The crowd filled up early, and the night kicked off with a short animated sequence where a Minion-version of Faye sings the opening verse of “But Not Kiss” in Minionese. Then the real band took over the full song live. It was an unexpected way to start the night.

Faye came onstage with her usual understated charm. When she started the set with songs from her new album Underdressed at the Symphony, it set the tone for a night of musicianship and vulnerability.

She played the fan favorites, too: “Thinking About You,” “Right Side of My Neck,” “A Dream With a Baseball Player,” and “In a Good Way” (which hit extra hard live).

A standout moment was also the performance of “Jonny.” It felt like a letter or poem, and it was such an experience hearing the strings as Faye played the keys.

Faye’s band played clean but steady, which matched her whole energy perfectly and highlighted her charm more.

She ended the set with a two-song encore. Faye performed “Feeling Good Today” with Noor Kahn, her best friend and bassist, on keys. The last song, of course, was “Kingston.”

“The day that I met you, I started dreaming …”

Kinda think our dreams came true at that moment. Fans braved the bad weather that night, but for them, the show was a bucket-list moment. Seeing Faye Webster live felt like catching your favorite song right when you need it most.
