A day before Byeon Woo-seok’s Fanmeeting Tour: Summer Letter in Manila on June 22, the South Korean actor met the media at a press conference. Woo-seok entered the hall with dozens of flowers in his arms. He wanted to personally give a rose to each member of the press as a sign of gratitude. How sweet!

Woo-seok has charmed Filipino fans with his portrayal of Ryu Sun-jae in K-drama “Lovely Runner,” and both he and his fans were excited for his first Manila fanmeet. Despite his busy schedule, he graciously carved out some time to answer questions from the local press.
“Kumusta? It’s so nice to finally be here in the Philippines,” Woo-seok said through an interpreter as he greeted everyone. Interviewer Kring Kim first taught Woo-seok some Filipino words and sentences, like “Salamat” and “Uwi ka na. Hindi na ako galit,” which made Woo-seok laugh when the meaning was explained to him.

He was first asked about what kind of roles he wants to do next. Woo-seok said that he loved Sun-jae’s character as soon as he read the “Lovely Runner” script. He added, “I don’t have a particular role or genre that I want to do next, but I want to do a new project where as soon as I read the script, my heart is already captivated by that story. I personally like romantic comedies, so maybe another romantic comedy.”
Woo-seok also shared which scenes from “Lovely Runner” are the most memorable for him. He has a lot of favorites, but he picked his top three. “The first is in episode two when Sun-jae first confessed to Sol that he likes her. The second is when Sun-jae was talking with his dad and Sun-jae was giving him alcohol, and the last one is when Sun-jae told Sol that it was okay for him to die as long she likes him.”

If Woo-seok weren’t an actor, what would he be? “Maybe own a business, like a coffee shop,” he said. He laughed when he was asked if he likes coffee. “I like to serve coffee, so maybe I’ll be good at that.”
He has already captured the hearts of fans these past few years, and recently, that popularity skyrocketed even more. Down-to-earth as ever, Woo-seok admitted that he is still not used to new-found attention and popularity. “I’m not used to this kind of attention, and it’s like a dream,” he said.
“While I was filming and preparing for ‘Lovely Runner,’ I did not expect this level of success. But of course, I always had the thought that I hope viewers like it as much as I enjoyed filming and preparing for it. All crew and staff also had the same hope, and right now, we’re very grateful it’s happening.”
Woo-seok also recommended some of his work that his new fans would also love: “Strong Girl Nam-soon,” “20th Century Girl,” and “Moonshine.” “Everything I’ve done so far is very precious. It’s so hard just to pick one,” he added.
Woo-seok is aware that Filipino TongTongs have been waiting eagerly for him to visit the country, and he gave this special message to them!
“Thank you so much for your overwhelming love, not just to me but also to Ryu Sunjae. Thank you that you appreciated our ‘Lovely Runner’ project. Thank you for your support and love that I never imagined this to happen. Please look forward to my next project, which will be released in the next few months.”
Now, who’s excited for Byeon Woo-seok’s new project?
