Super Show 9 in Manila: Promises Kept #SS9inManila

After the postponement of the Super Junior World Tour – Super Show 9: Road in Manila in August, the K-pop group came back to keep their promise. All roads led to the SM Mall of Asia Arena on December 17 and 18 for the rescheduled Manila leg of their Super Show 9 tour, which was also the first time for Super Junior to have a two-day concert in the Philippines.

“We kept our promise, right? But for me, I think, you kept a promise for us,” Shindong said. “I’m really thankful that we were able to meet each other before the year ends,” Eunhyuk added. Leeteuk said that the fans kept their tickets like lottery tickets since August. He then joked, “You guys won the lottery tonight!”

And it certainly felt like it.
Shindong, Ryeowook, Donghae, Yesung, Siwon, Kyuhyun, Eunhyuk, and Leeteuk were excited to see the sapphire blue sea at the arena. They promised a great show for their PH ELFs, who were also ecstatic to see the group again.

Super Junior’s set started with “Burn the Floor” from their 2021 album “The Renaissance.” They continued with more of their powerful songs such as “The Crown,” “Super,” and “Mr. Simple.”
Their setlist also included songs from the group’s sub-units, which is a testament to the talent of each member.

Super Junior performed their recent hits including “Paradox,” “Mystery,” “Callin’,” “House Party,” and “More Days with You.” A Super Show wouldn’t be complete without “Sorry, Sorry” and “Bonamana,” a back-to-back performance that showed why the group is truly one of K-pop’s best artists.

One of the most fun parts of the show was their “Gods of Music” segment, which had different arrangements for “Spy,” “Rokkugo,” and “Mamacita.” Super Junior is also known for their humor, and all I can say is that you’d have to see this segment to believe it. What an experience!
For both of their shows, Super Junior had a surprise for their ELFs. On Dec. 17, they performed “Celebrate” for the first time on stage. “This is our present to you,” Leeteuk said. The fandom was also prepared with their “Celebrate” banners and their blue Santa hats, which also surprised the group. While on Dec. 18, Super Junior sang “White Love” from their newly released EP “The Road: Celebration.”

Before the night ended, Siwon said, “Anything is possible when you have the right people to support you … We can do everything because of you.” ELFs’ hearts melted at that moment.

Super Show 9 in Manila was a celebration of promises kept and of love and support between Super Junior and PH ELFs, a bond that has been growing since 2005.

SUPER JUNIOR continues their Super Show 9 Tour in Manila this weekend

Keeping their promise of return, Kings of Hallyu and global superstars, SUPER JUNIOR are making their way back to the Philippines to push through their grand reunion with PH E.L.F.s as PULP Live World proudly announces the return of

SUPER JUNIOR WORLD TOUR – SUPER SHOW 9: ROAD in MANILA on December 17, 6 PM, and December 18, 5 PM, 2022 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.

Known as the timeless K-Pop group, Super Junior has recently celebrated their 17th anniversary, making them one of the longest-running K-Pop idol groups in the industry. Throughout their career, they made monumental marks with the records achieved by their songs and multiple awards given worldwide. Most recently, they won the 2021 Artist of the Year at The Fact Music Awards. But more than these shining trophies and recognitions, Super Junior’s most iconic mark is how they paved the way for the K-Pop industry to be recognized now globally.

Veteran K-Pop fans would know how this legendary group worked hard from the beginning to achieve the status they have now and generously share with other younger K-Pop idols. No one can talk about Hallyu without mentioning their group in the discussion. Adding to this is the fact that they are the first K-Pop group to ever perform here in the Philippines with Super Show 2 in 2010.

Now, as they continue creating works for the fans, Super Junior is now on tour with the 9 th installment of Super Show. The tour follows the release of their 11th Album, The Road, which tells a message of moving forward as Super Junior continues their journey as artists. The show is specially dedicated to their fans, E.L.F.s. (Ever-Lasting Friend) – a fandom that is perfectly named considering their career in the industry and how their fans keep on supporting them today.

Last August, Super Junior and PH E.L.F.s met in an emotional atmosphere but during those times, we witnessed how the connection and love of this idol group and their fans rise above all else. Now, as Super Junior returns, PH E.L.F.s are in for a much more exciting, explosive, and superb Super Show 9 experience! As they said, Super Show 9 is a show where fans will feel happiness and good energy – this is exactly what they will bring to Manila this December!

Filipino ELFs have been waiting for August 6 for a long time. After almost three years, Super Junior was supposed to bring their Super Junior World Tour – Super Show 9 to Manila. However, due to unfortunate circumstances, the K-pop group has postponed their show and instead held a meet-and-greet with fans.

SuJu’s Siwon and Eunhyuk were not able to fly to Manila. Siwon tested positive for COVID-19, and late last night, the group announced that Eunhyuk’s father passed away.

The arena, a sea of sapphire blue lightsticks, was somber at first. ELFs also put black ribbons on their lightsticks. Kring Kim, event host, welcomed everyone and talked to the crowd before SuJu graced the stage.

Each member connected with the crowd with their speeches. Even though they were grieving and emotional, they asked for the fans’ understanding. ELFs chanted “kwenchana” (tr: It’s okay) in return. They promised to return with Siwon and Eunhyuk next time.

Leeteuk said their concert is a show that gives ELFs hope. He then announced that tonight’s Super Show is not canceled. It’s just postponed. “You just bought the tickets early,” Leeteuk said.

Super Junior sang three ballads as a gift to their fans: My Wish, Callin’, and 같이 걸을까 (More Days with You).
After their set, leader Leeteuk addressed the crowd and thanked the ELFs, who have supported them and walked with them for almost 18 years.

Super Junior World Tour – Super Show 9: Road in Manila was supposed to be the group’s sixth concert in the Philippines. Filipino ELFs, hold on to those tickets because a new date will be announced, and those tickets will be honored. According to PULP Live World, more information regarding the new show will be released soon.
