Howard Shore’s Academy Award®-winning score performed live-to-film by the Filharmonika Orchestra and Philippine Madrigal Singers, with soloist Malena Rampi, under the baton of Reuben Blundell

Film Concerts Philippines invites audiences to return to Middle-earth with The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring in Concert. As Peter Jackson’s acclaimed full-length film plays on the big screen, Howard Shore’s Academy Award®-winning score will be performed live by 247 performers: the 96-member Filharmonika Orchestra, the Philippine Madrigal Singers’ 100-member adult choir and 50-member boys’ choir, and soloist Malena Rampi. Under the baton of Reuben Blundell, the 247-member ensemble will be the largest Film Concerts Philippines has assembled to date.

Based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s beloved literary masterpiece, The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001) follows young Hobbit Frodo Baggins, who is entrusted with a perilous quest: to destroy the One Ring before it falls into the hands of the Dark Lord Sauron. Joined by eight companions, Frodo sets out on an extraordinary journey that tests their courage, friendship, and resolve as the forces of darkness grow.

The film received 13 Academy Award® nominations and won four, including Best Original Score for Howard Shore. Together with The Two Towers (2002) and The Return of the King (2003), it formed a landmark trilogy that became a global phenomenon, earning 17 Academy Awards® across the three films and ranking among the highest-grossing film trilogies of all time.

Since its 2008 premiere in Lucerne, Switzerland, The Fellowship of the Ring in Concert has been performed around the world by leading orchestras. It is part of a wider series of Lord of the Rings concerts that has been performed more than 500 times. In March 2027, Filipino audiences can finally experience the concert for themselves.
