Music icon Joey Albert is set to mark a massive milestone in her illustrious 45-year career with a grand anniversary concert titled “Fortyfied.” Scheduled for April 25 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Newport World Resorts, the show is produced by DSL Events and Echo Jham Productions. The evening promises to be a star-studded affair, as Joey will be joined by an incredible lineup of industry friends, including Martin Nievera, Raymond Lauchengco, Janet Basco, Iwi Laurel, Chad Borja, Janice De Belen, Judith Banal, and Ms. Pops Fernandez.

Pops Fernandez, who serves as one of the show’s producers, shared that Joey has been an “ate-atehan” since she first started in the business. The idea for this concert sparked when Pops was invited to one of Joey’s shows in Canada. While other promoters were pitching to produce the 45th-anniversary show, Joey didn’t realize that Pops is also a concert promoter in the Philippines. From that moment, the collaboration for “Fortyfied” was born. Joey decided on a grand celebration because of her life experiences; she feels that every milestone should be celebrated to the fullest because “it might be the last.” She vividly remembers her 40th anniversary, which took place during the height of the pandemic and could only be celebrated through an online streaming concert.

Despite facing serious health challenges, having been diagnosed with cancer three times, Joey has never stopped performing. She continues to sing for her fans on-stage and through her social media page, “Joey’s Jam,” every weekend. Although she is now based in Canada and is frequently invited to the Philippines for Valentine’s shows, this time she returns as the main headliner. Beyond this grand event, Joey revealed that she will be embarking on a cross-country Canadian tour for Filipinos living in smaller cities and will be releasing a new album that sees her going back to her roots to connect with her fans.

To the new generation of artists looking to join the music scene, Joey emphasizes the importance of honest hard work. She notes, “Dati hardwork kami talaga and pilitin natin magpakumbaba at mabait kasi I think that’s one of the things that will make us last long.” She believes that longevity comes from keeping good relationships with people because they are the ones who will look after you throughout your journey. She carries with her a vital piece of advice from her mother: “Isa lang ang payo ng mommy sakin noong nagsimula ako na basta maging mabait ka sa mga taong makikilala mo sa pagpataas kasi yan din ang mga taong makikita mo sa pagbaba.” Her mother’s belief that one is not always on top of the industry serves as a reminder to remain kind to those who support you. This philosophy is why many members of her team have stayed with her for years and why she remains so well-loved by her fans.

“Fortyfied: Joey Albert’s 45th Anniversary” concert is happening on April 25 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater, and tickets are already sold out. The event is proudly presented by DSL Events and Echo Jham Productions.
