The Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) brought volleyball fever to the Philippines by hosting the 2025 FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Championship in the Philippines. Thirty-two teams, including the home team Alas Pilipinas, are competing in the tournament.

The event began with a spectacular opening ceremony on September 12, 2025, at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City. The ceremony featured a mix of live entertainment and cultural performances. P-pop group G22 performed their hit songs “Pa-Pa-Pa-Palaban” and “Boomerang,” while singer Karencitta and DJ Tom Taus also took the stage. Cultural dancers showcased traditional Filipino arts, adding a local touch to the event.

Boynextdoor Headlines the Opening Ceremony
The opening ceremony was headlined by K-pop sensation Boynextdoor. The group, who had a successful tour in the Philippines earlier in the year, was announced as the global ambassador for the championship in April 2025.

Boynextdoor thrilled the crowd with a performance of their biggest hits, including “I Feel Good,” “Nice Guy,” “If I Say I Love You,” and “Earth, Wind and Fire.” The members expressed their excitement to be part of the prestigious event and their hope to return to the Philippines for a future tour.
