Portals Tour: Melanie Martinez Live in Manila

For the first time ever, Melanie Martinez is heading to Manila for her Portals Tour 2024. The show will be held at the World Trade Center Manila on January 2024. It will be produced by Live Nation Philippines.

Melanie Martinez is an American singer, songwriter, and director known for her unique and eccentric style, characterized by her doll-like appearance and dark, whimsical storytelling. She gained widespread recognition through her participation in the third season of the reality TV show “The Voice” in 2012. Although she did not win the competition, she left a lasting impression on the judges and audience with her distinct voice and style.

Born on April 28, 1995, in Baldwin, New York, Melanie Martinez had a passion for music from an early age. She began writing her own songs and crafting her visual style long before her appearance on “The Voice.” Her distinctive look, characterized by her two-tone hair and doll-like aesthetic, has become a central part of her artistic identity.

After “The Voice,” Melanie Martinez continued to work on her music and develop her unique persona. In 2014, she released her debut EP, “Dollhouse,” which featured songs that delved into themes of family dysfunction and childhood, delivered through eerie and often unsettling lyrics. The EP received critical acclaim and helped establish her as an artist with a dark and introspective style.

Martinez’s debut studio album, “Cry Baby,” was released in 2015 and further solidified her place in the music industry. The album explored complex and sometimes controversial themes related to mental health, relationships, and societal expectations, all set against a backdrop of her distinctive pop sound. Hits like “Pity Party,” “Soap,” and “Sippy Cup” garnered millions of views on YouTube and streams on various platforms.

In January 2023, Melanie Martinez released her third studio album, “Portals”. It includes 13 tracks with two singles “Void”, and “Death”.

Daniel Caesar will make third visit to Manila this July 2023

Following the successes of his past two Manila shows: his Wanderland Music & Arts Festival debut in 2018 and his first Philippine headline show in 2019, Canadian R&B artist Daniel Caesar, makes an exciting return to the country.

Since kickstarting his career in 2014 and releasing his debut album in 2017, the singer has been an unstoppable force in the modern R&B scene. Songs like ‘Best Part’, ‘Get You’, and ‘Japanese Denim’ have been a staple in thousands of playlists for long drives, hard nights, and heartaches.

Everything he has created so far has a magic touch—it’s no wonder his music has always garnered widespread critical acclaim.

This certainly still holds true with the latest addition to his discography, NEVER ENOUGH. The third studio album puts an end to the four-year break with Caesar heavily involving himself in the production of almost every track. “This feels like the most personal [release] yet,” he shares.

And everyone listened.

Once it was dropped, it almost felt like the whole world stopped to put it on. ‘Always’ was an early favorite making its rounds all over TikTok. ‘Let Me Go’ was an instant share in group chats and personal stories.

It’s clear that Daniel Caesar has done it again—creating magic on love songs and heartbreak ballads that have a place on everyone’s playlists.

Suddenly, it seemed like four years wasn’t too long of a wait—“If every time you make something, you put your all into it, and people like it, there’ll be someone there to listen when you come back around.”

We’re already counting down the days until we have that one moment of time to be under Caesar’s spell of soul-baring sing-alongs once again.

Trust us, it’s a magical experience.

Donny Pangilinan and Mario Maurer lead an all-star lineup of performers at ‘The Exchange: The Filipino And Thai Concert Experience’

MUSIC fans can mark their calendars for June 22, 2023, as The Exchange: The Filipino And Thai Concert Experience happens at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.

This musical spectacle promises to be an epic event that assembles an amazing sampling of the best artists from the Philippines and Thailand.

The lineup of performers for the event is nothing short of impressive. The participating artists are led by two superstars: Filipino actor-singer Donny Pangilinan and Thai actor Mario Maurer.

Pangilinan first made his mark in the industry as a VJ for MYX Philippines in 2016. Since then, he has gained popularity with his performances in the digital series He’s Into Her, as well as the Star Cinema movies Love Is Color Blind and An Inconvenient Love.

In addition to acting and hosting, Pangilinan is also into music. He signed with Universal Records in June 2017 and debuted with “Did You?” two months later. Pangilinan’s latest solo track “Wings” has over 3.4 million streams on Spotify, where he has 159,699 monthly listeners. Its official music video has over a million views on YouTube. He has described his music as “a mix of EDM, house, and R&B.” He’ll be bringing that sound to the World Trade Center stage for The Exchange: The Filipino And Thai Concert Experience.

Maurer, on the other hand, expressed his excitement to return to the Philippines, calling it a “very beautiful country.” He also praised the hospitality of the Filipino people and expressed his desire to work on more projects in the country. Fans of Maurer, who is best known for his roles in Thai movies such as Love Of Siam and Crazy Little Thing Called Love can look forward to seeing the actor perform live in Manila.

Maurer will be joined by Thai artists Davika Hoorne, Mike Angelo, and the boy group PERSES, all of whom have gained massive followings in their home country and beyond.

Davika Hoorne, aka Mai, is a Thai-Belgian actress and model. She’s best known for her performance opposite Maurer in Pee Mak – the highest-grossing Thai film of all time. She got her start in the Thai drama Ngao Kammathep, and has also appeared in the films Heart Attack and Suddenly Twenty. She is referred to as the “Queen of Presenters” in Thailand.

Mike Angelo, born Mike Pirat Nitipaisalkul, is a Thai-Chinese singer, actor, and model. He was part of the music duo Golf-Mike with his brother from 2005 to 2010. He began his acting career in 2008 and has since appeared in Chinese and Thai dramas. In 2021, Mike participated in the US film The Misfits.

PERSES is a rising Thai music group formed under G’Nest, a subsidiary of GMM, the largest media and events company in Thailand. The group made debuted with the single “My Time” on September 28, followed by “Touchdown” on November 23. Known for their exceptional vocals and synchronized dance moves, PERSES has drawn comparisons to K-pop groups. The group has even worked with the renowned South Korean production team Jam Factory, who has produced hits for K-pop sensations GOT7, ITZY, and NCT.

Meanwhile, Filipino performers will also take the stage at The Exchange: The Filipino And Thai Concert Experience, with P-Pop boy group BGYO, and multi-talented performer AC Bonifacio set to dazzle the audience. BGYO has quickly gained a reputation as one of the most promising P-Pop acts in the country, while Bonifacio has impressed audiences with her dancing skills and multi-faceted talent.

This event will be directed by Paolo Valenciano, a Filipino director and performer known for his work in the entertainment industry. He started his career as a musician and performer, but later focused on directing live events and music videos. He has worked with some big names in the Philippine music scene, including Gary Valenciano, Regine Velasquez, and Sarah Geronimo. Valenciano helmed some of 2022’s most well-attended events, including the much-talked about Eraserheads reunion concert in December 2022.

His magic touch will make The Exchange: The Filipino And Thai Concert Experience an exciting event as it will be hosted by Kantapong Bumrungrak and is co-organized by the Asian Television Awards and Eventsquad Inc. Doors will open at 6:00 pm. and the show will start at 7:30 pm.

“We are thrilled to bring together a diverse and talented lineup of performers for The Exchange: The Filipino And Thai Concert Experience,” says Eventsquad Inc.’s creative director Manuel “El” V. Buenaflor. “This event is a celebration of music and culture, and we are proud to showcase the best of what the Philippines and Thailand have to offer. We can’t wait to see what these incredible performers have in store for our audience.”
