Get to know more about joan’s debut album, superglue

Acclaimed alt pop duo joan announce details of their long awaited debut album superglue, out April 19th, 2023 via Photo Finish Records. The twelve-track full length is over three years in the making, following their beloved EPs portra, cloudy, hi and bye, and is an existential journey influenced by the duo’s recent transition into fatherhood. joan explain: “It’s totally wrecked our world and we both have been going through a lot of the same growth that comes alongside being a parent. It’s changed our whole process of writing, and way more than just like having a kid and making every song about them. It’s made us think more about who we are as people, what we want to put into the world and what we want to get out of it, just reflecting on life way more than I think we ever have.

This album as a whole is about the past and the present happening at the same time, it’s about dreams for the future and hoping for a better tomorrow but missing yesterday. It’s by far the best and most meaningful music we’ve ever made, it has something for everyone, and we hope it means something to you too.”

To accompany the news they’ve also shared the record’s second single and video ‘flowers’, the last song joan wrote for the album which became one of their personal favorites. The highly emotive and nostalgic narrative discusses how time is fleeting and how people grow and change, paired with wistful acoustic guitar riffs under cinematic synths and heartfelt melodies. The accompanying video shows captures joan’s riveting performance against bright hues of yellow.

The band share “I remember running around the streets of my best friend’s neighborhood after midnight, skipping around from friend to friends house. I remember rushing to my friend’s house after school to rehearse our new songs in his garage. I remember driving around town after the sun went down just because we could. you make so many memories in those formative years. You never think to yourself, “this won’t last forever”. but then you grow. It happens slow – years go by, seasons change. That’s just life. If you’re lucky, some of those people stick around. but for a lot of us, you’re left asking, “why don’t we talk anymore?”. That’s what this song is to us.”

Gen Z icon Beabadobee releases new single, 10:36 before launching album ‘Beatopia’ on July 15

Critically acclaimed Gen Z icon beabadoobee today shares her new single ‘10:36’, lifted from her forthcoming second studio album Beatopia (pronounced Bay-A-Toe-Pee-Uh), out 15th July on Dirty Hit. ‘10:36’ unpacks Bea’s personal relationships with the people in her life, and how she depends on human contact to get to sleep: “You’re just a warm body to hold / at night when I’m feeling all alone”, she sings.

“‘10:36’ was written after ‘Fake It Flowers’ and just before ‘Our Extended Play’, and I had envisioned it to be on that EP, but I was just sitting on that riff for ages and then I properly made a demo during lockdown. It was called 10:36 because that was the time I finished writing it. It’s basically about how I have this weird dependency on human contact to sleep”

Alongside singles ‘Talk’, ‘See You Soon’ and ‘Lovesong’, ‘10:36’ is another taste of Beabadoobee’s thrillingly diverse and experimental second album Beatopia, which is available to preorder now. Beatopia is a fantastical yet deeply personal world that was formed in the imagination of a 7 year old beabadoobee and has been carried with her ever since. Housing Bea’s most impressive work to date, Beatopia marks a huge progression, in 14 songs she traverses fuzzy rock, classic singer-songwriter, psychedelia, midwest emo and outright pop whilst remaining undeniably herself throughout.

Beabadoobee is currently poised to embark upon a run of worldwide festival shows including Glastonbury, Governor’s Ball, Summer Sonic, Mad Cool, Rock En Seine, TRNSMT and more. She’s just wrapped a support tour with Halsey as main support at arenas across the US, and will shortly be joining Bleachers out in the States too. Following this, Beabadoobee will play a headline tour of the UK this October, culminating in a huge show at London’s legendary Brixton Academy, tickets are on sale now from beabadoobee.com.

Cheat Codes release highly anticipated dance album, Hellraisers pt. 3

Multi-platinum hit-making trio Cheat Codes, popularly known for their smash single “No Promises” (feat. Demi Lovato), are turning out new music at record pace by releasing their third album Hellraisers, PT 3, available everywhere May 27th.

Cheat Codes released the first part of their debut album Hellraisers, Pt. 1 in May 2021. Inspired by Trevor’s pop-leaning sound, the record featured tracks such as the lead single “Lean On Me (feat. Tinashe),” “Stay (feat. Bryce Vine),” “Do It All Over (feat. Marc E. Bassy),” and “Hate You + Love You (feat. AJ Mitchell).” The name of the album, “Hellraisers,” was the nickname given to the group by their late manager, Michael Theanne, describing the boy’s playful, adventurous and lavish lifestyle. The album itself has three parts – each part has a distinct sound influenced by each member.

Hellraisers Part 2 was Kevi’s Hip-Hop leaning album with hits including “Hurricane” featuring All American Rejects’ Tyson Ritter and “No Service in the Hills” ft. Trippie Redd & Blackbear. The album also had collaborations with UK rock royalty Oli Sykes of Bring me the Horizon, Charlotte Sands and international pop punk sensation Travis Barker.

Hellraisers Part 3 is Matt’s dance-inspired album. Coming off of their hit, “Payback” featuring Icona Pop, which received chart-topping reviews at the start of 2022, this album has been curated with the nightclub-goer in mind. Taking the guys back to their roots this album has powerhouse collaborators and will finalize the Hellraisers trilogy.

The Cheat Codes say “Hellraisers Part 3 is finally here! It’s the final installment of the Hellraisers Trilogy. Our vision for this project was to blend genres and create something outside the box of our normal sound. We wanted to make 3 unique albums that represented us individually but still stayed true to who the Cheat Codes really are.

Our main goal with Cheat Codes is to bring people together through music, and the fact that we’re able to collaborate with such amazing artists in pop, hip hop, electronic, and rock is a vision we’ve had for a long time! Hope you enjoy these albums as much as we enjoyed making them!”

Jensen Gomez measures the crazy sensation of human experience in 3 unique singles

HELP YOURSELF TO SOME HAPPY MISFORTUNES – From a bittersweet love song to a timeless feel-good anthem to a dance track for a carefree night out, Jensen Gomez showcases his range through 3 singles that take you to different places in his life.

“Let Me In” is a sentimental track about second tries. It features calm guitar, brass instruments, and a voice dipped in regret. One of the notable lyrics is “Please, let me in, Let me explain, All my faults and my lies that drove you away”–pointing to the song’s purpose as a sonic love letter. Jensen repeats 2 major hooks several times, mirroring the behavior of an apology towards someone you love, who existed in love with you.

Moving on from the simultaneously heartbreaking and heartwarming ballad– Jensen steps into a scene where he celebrates his many misadventures. “Another Day” is your perfect vacation hangout song. Its smooth guitar licks and light melody make for something chill you can play on road trips, beach vacations, night drives with your friends, or even while you’re fixing up a refresher for yourself at home. Not only does it express Jensen’s new kind of happiness, but works as a serotonin boost for its listeners too. A nod to making mistakes and happy misfortunes, “Another Day” is a song for those who persist through the good and the bad.

A seasoned songwriter with tons of meaningful experiences in his arsenal, Gomez pays homage to his past hits by weaving easter eggs into his lyrics. The song was also written for the people who make him feel happier, the ones who encourage him to live another day. With phrases like “grey to a rainbow” and “hazy to sunny, BTTR to honey”, Gomez emphasizes that his life has taken a turn for the better. This uplifting track is a musical scrapbook of Jensen’s challenges, contentment, and creativity.

With this new go-with-the-flow attitude, Jensen introduces a smooth but hype tune that you can play while getting ready for an evening of drinks and dancing. “BMF” is a modern-loving anthem with 80s funk R&B influence that is sure to get you feeling yourself. Written about a man caught in the trance of an enrapturing woman, “BMF” is all about contagious confidence, chances, and admiration. Featuring artists Seonna, Earl of Manila, and Carl Mesina, you’ll find a mix of head-bopping rap and heart-melting vocals. The song’s mellow bass lines and throwback-sound synths build a suave vibe that rounds out Jensen’s musical story.

You can listen to all 3 singles on Jensen’s EP, “Phases Vol. 3”, the third installment in a series of EP releases that show the diversity of his experiences and talents. Jensen Gomez shows through his music that he is a man made of memories, an artist who can also mold his sound to his stories.

New and Rising Sibling Alt Pop Duo, “No Lore”, Sings About the Beauty and Chaos of Love and Loyalty in their First Tagalog Song

BABALIK AT BABALIK– Musicians No Lore just dropped a song that creatively illustrates the boundaries of love and loyalty–and what happens when you cross the line. It shows how we bind ourselves to certain people and ideas, and how that may tears rifts more than it strengthens bonds. “Paumanhin” allows listeners to feel the emotions of a person who, after everything–despite everything–cannot let go of their love no matter how many incompatibilities there are.

The 2 members of No Lore, Tita Halaman and Jerald, created “Paumanhin” as part of a 3-piece story that began with poetry. Tita Halaman, the songwriter, used an original poem of the same title as the basis for the painting seen in the song’s cover art. Both then inspired the idea’s sonic representation. From writing to visuals, it now takes its final form through sound. The artists have described it as a song about love and (not) letting go, but it truly can be interpreted in many different ways.

“Paumanhin”, with its driving electric guitar, powerful percussion, and grand piano riffs, is reminiscent of the local music scene in the latter half of the 2010s, when music festivals and small gigs were the default weekend agenda. Produced by No Lore in collaboration with Ean Aguila (of Ang Bandang Shirley), the song aligns its main message with its sound–bringing us back to our own distinct pasts, playing with that feeling of attachment. “Paumanhin” is a song for your late-night drives with friends, sunset feels trips, or even your muni-muni moments alone in your room.

Tita Halaman of No Lore with Ean Aguila of Ang Bandang Shirley and Eelectric Studios, and RJ Mabilin of Tiny Blue Space

No Lore shared a statement explaining the message behind the song, noting “Paumanhin could be considered a love song for people who aren’t able to move on, for people who can never forget – but this song has more than one meaning”. Another angle to look at it from relates to the current state of Philippine politics.

Because we as listeners are always looking for pieces of ourselves– in music, in art, in the people around us–having a song like this gives us the feeling of understanding and inspiration that we long for. “Paumanhin” is a timeless piece you can mold to your reality and find comfort in.

One of the lyrics the singers repeat several times is “at ulit-ulit kong ibabalik sa simula”. This is a song you can come back to at different points of your life and find relatable every time. Whether it be remaining loyal to a person, idea, or experience, “Paumanhin” captures the bittersweet choice of turning back, possibly away from the meaningful connection and experiences you already have.

No Lore, sibling alt-pop duo composed of siblings Tita Halaman and Jerald, makes music inspired by Tita Halaman’s poetry-inspired artwork. As artists, their goal is to consistently release a new song accompanied by a painting and to publish a book based on it.

Tita Halaman and Jerald decided to name their duo “No Lore” in reference to them being entirely self-taught in music, visual art, and poetry–doing everything from music production to marketing by themselves before being signed to a label. “No Lore” is inspired by the phrase “No Folklore,” which means “don’t just dream, imagine and tell it. If you want magic, make it happen”.

Tita Halaman and Jerald were members of different bands before (Tita as a drummer and Jerald as a bassist). They always dreamt of working as a duo, but that goal was always pushed back to a point where it felt like folklore–an idea of the past. In a twist of fortune, they were able to clear their busy schedules in 2021, in the middle of a pandemic, and finally made their dream happen. Because of this, there are “No Folkores” for them anymore.

No Lore’s “Paumanhin” is out today on Spotify, Apple Music and all digital streaming platforms.

Dynamic 88rising South Korean artist, Seori, releases her new single “Can’t Stop This Party”

Rising South Korean artist Seori will be releasing her forthcoming 5th digital single, “Can’t Stop This Party” on March 22nd at 12AM ET for a global facing release with ATISPAUS and 88rising. She will also be holding her first international online press showcase the same evening, on March 22nd at 8:00PM KST featuring a live performance and artist Q&A with worldwide press and fans in attendance.

The new all-English song is a hypnotizing, moody pop and R&B track written by Seori and globally acclaimed writers Chloe Angelides, Joseph Bryn Kearns, Treyshun Campbell. Produced by Joseph Kearns, the song features Seori’s gentle but charismatic vocals over a piano intro that seamlessly blends into a melancholy, lo-fi beat. The song describes the theme of a never-ending party- which stereotypically would be associated with an up-tempo rhythm and high energy- but instead cheekily slows the beat down in a charming and unique way that creates a new, fresh feeling for the audience.

Like a never-ending network, the song lyrics describe her feeling trapped with frustration and stress from an almost-lover who couldn’t return her feelings. She describes feeling hurt and betrayed by a loved one and is overwhelmed with bitterness with the past.

To escape the heartbreak, she finally breaks free by exploring a party she does not want to leave. She sings about running away from painful past memories that haunt her, so far that she metaphorically feels that she is on another planet. Though she is getting the relief she needs, her distortion of reality is blurred and distorted by the spiraling party. By focusing less on the past and not worrying about the future, she discovers cathartic relief by letting go of her bitter emotions and dancing her feelings away in the present moment.

Like taking a breath of air after feeling suffocated, the song will allow listeners to escape the everyday stresses to another world through her healing music.

VEVO named her as the only South Korean artist for their DSCR Artists to watch in 2022, while NME awarded her as one of the Emerging Artists to Watch for 2022. Seori was the first female Korean artist to perform on Grammy’s Global Spin series.

Seori is featured on the track “Warriors“ with Warren Hue for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings: The Album, executive produced by 88rising. She also made her debut stage performance at 88rising’s “Head in the Clouds” Los Angeles Music & Arts Festival last year in front of 30,000+ in-person audience with thousands more watching from the livestream- leaving a lasting impression for fans all around the world.

“Can’t Stop this Party” will be released through 88rising on March 22nd and available on Spotify, Apple Music, and other music platforms around the world. The music video to follow on Seori’s and 88rising’s official YouTube channel.

Alexa Ilacad lays down all the questions inside her heart and head in her new single, “Paano”!

Alexa Ilacad will be taking you on a journey of heartbreak with her new pop ballad single, “Paano”, out on Spotify, Apple Music and all digital streaming platforms this Friday, January 21, 2022.

For people familiar with Alexa’s music, her catchy pop tunes and high pitch vocals are one of her trademarks when it comes to her songs. She proves not only to be a versatile actress, but also a talented singer who can give life to every song she performs, especially the ones she wrote herself.

“Paano” was written by Alexa Ilacad in one sitting during a rainy car ride. Just like the downpour outside, Alexa poured out all her feelings and the questions running through her head after getting blindsided by the person she trusted the most. “Where did it all go wrong? Was any of it real? What did I do wrong?” These are just some of the questions Alexa asks herself but never got any answers to.

“I wrote ‘Paano’ because I had no other way and place to channel my emotions. I kept it with me for so long until I was ready to share my pain.” said Alexa. It was then she reached out to her best friend and vocalist of Gracenote, Eunice Jorge, to help her turn this pain into the beautiful song that it is today.

Aside from acting, as of now, she’ll be focusing on releasing more music to her fans.

Although “Paano” is a pop song, its lyrics and vocals express nothing but hurt and sadness – a pain that Alexa demands you to feel with her. Who could have ever hurt her this much? We may never know. One thing is for sure, not even Alexa Ilacad is exempted from heartbreak.

88rising’s Stephanie Poetri Returns With New Single “Picture Myself”

Off of the back of her debut EP “AM:PM”, which has since crossed 20M streams globally, Stephanie Poetri returns with single “Picture Myself” a collaboration with producer M-Phazes (Madonna, Demi Lovato, Kehlani) and writer Sarah Aarons (Zedd, Flume, Jessie Ware). Nostalgia and longing are woven into every word of “Picture Myself,” as Stephanie contends with the tumult of emotions associated with being in a long distance relationship.

“You moved out the West and I moved to the city / Made separate beds but I still hold you in my chest when things aren’t looking pretty,” Stephanie sings over soft strummed acoustic guitar and warm synth melodies. The song captures the vulnerability and uncertainty that comes with being away from the one you love, but also a sense of understanding through its intimate lyrics

The music video, directed by Eileen Yoon, follows Stephanie on a day around New York City, doing the things she used to do with her partner but now alone. Sometimes you just want to have someone to share that jumbo slice with.

According to Stephanie, “’Picture Myself’ is an acoustic rendition of what long distance feels like and the constant wondering of whether it’s worth it or not. As someone who’s experienced a long distance relationship, it feels like this song really captures the cycle of worrying and missing and confusion.” The cover art for the single was drawn by Stephanie herself and adds an additional personal touch to the project.
