Pinoy music icons reunites for Tugtugan Sitenta concert

The Decade of the 70’s has often times been referred to by Philippine Music Industry pundits and veterans as the Golden Age of OPM because of 2 distinct reasons: For one, many OPM artists have become prolific and productive at their craft during that time, churning out one hit after another, all musical gems and even holding its own in terms of popularity and sales against foreign recordings. And Two, the radio airwaves of the 70’s have largely been dominated by OPM sounds because of government support that certainly helped boost the popularity and sales of OPM records. The 70’s may have long since past but its music lives on through the artists who’ve made the sounds of the 70’s very popular.

TUGTUGAN SITENTA is one such nostalgic event. The Concert features some of the OPM artists who have basked in the glory of the OPM euphoria of the 70’s. These artists include Nonoy Tan and Rey Magtoto of Wadab, Joey Abando of Boyfriends, Pinoy Rock Legend Mike Hanopol, The Queen of Pilipino Rock Music Sampaguita, Mon Espia of Labuyo, Pete Gatela, Carlos Parsons, and Yujin Baydal of Hagibis, Male Rigor and Monet Gaskell of VST & Co. and Boboy Garrovillo & Jim Paredes of The Apo Hiking Society. They will bring nostalgia to audiences once more as they perform their biggest hits in a rare one-night tribute to the golden age of original Pilipino music.

Bruno Major returning to Manila this August 2023

It’s been a long time coming.

After five years, Bruno Major is returning to the Philippines as part of the Asian leg of his Tour of Planet Earth 2023.

The British singer-songwriter made his Philippine debut at Karpos Live in 2018 and was initially set to come back in 2020 to perform at the then canceled Wanderland Music & Arts Festival. In that same year, he released his sophomore album, To Let A Good Thing Die and by the looks of it, maybe the third album this 2023 as he just released a new single, We Were Never Really Friends.

There’s been a lot of new music yet to be heard live and lucky for us, we’ll be charmed by it all soon.

Bruno Major quickly caught the spotlight when he completed his 12-track debut album, A Song For Every Moon, after releasing a song every full moon, a.k.a. every month. It was a very unconventional and personal project for Major but was a testament to his dedication, talent, creativity, and overall brand as an artist.

The whole astronomical concept to his brand is so cohesive, his album covers have well thought out meanings and stories to tell as well, as very intricately designed by Rob Shuttleworth.

When it comes to Major’s music, you can tell that he’s an old-fashioned romantic. The mixture of R&B, soul and jazz melodies with vulnerable, straight to the point lyrics and soothing vocals runs through his entire catalog. He is the soundtrack of falling in and out of love and finding beauty in spite of it all.

If there’s something we remember about being in a Bruno Major show, it feels exactly like that–a confident charming crooner singing delicately about love with the audience clutching their chests as he pours his soul and emotion on stage.

“The beauty of Major’s music can truly be found in its simplicity,” the L.A. Times says and we couldn’t agree more.

Bruno Major live in Manila is happening on August 15, 2023 at the Samsung Performing Arts Theater in Circuit, Makati.

Ticket prices as follows:
Orchestra Pit: PHP 5,250+
Orchestra: PHP 4,990+
Loge: PHP 4,465+
Lower Balcony: PHP 3,415+
Upper Balcony: PHP 2,625+
*Exclusive of ticketing charges.

Dream Theater Manila show moves to New Frontier Theater

This is it, Dream Theater fans!

Ready your energy as we move to a more nostalgic vibe and a more vantage-point venue for the upcoming Dream Theater concert.

In an announcement made by Ovation Productions on April 29, 2023, on their social media accounts, Dream Theater’s upcoming Manila concert will now be moved to the New Frontier Theater. The concert is happening on May 4, 2023, and it will be a more exclusive experience for all the DT fans as they celebrate their reunion up-close with the band.

The Grammy-winning progressive metal band composed of James LaBrie, John Petrucci, Jordan Rudess, John Myung, and Mike Mangini were very excited to perform live again in the Philippines for the second time.

The New Frontier Theater is a very sentimental place to both Dream Theater and their fans, as they were able to have their first-ever intimate rock-and-roll night together in the venue last September 25, 2017, during their concert tour. The tour was part of the 25th-anniversary celebration of their 1992 studio album “Images and Words”.

Now, they are returning to the country for their “Top of the World Tour” to treat their fans as they perform the songs live from their new album “A View From The Top Of The World.” The tracks included in the album are: The Alien (9:32), Answering The Call (7:35), Invisible Monster (6:31), Sleeping Giant (10:05), Transcending Time (6:25), Awaken The Master (9:47), and A View From The Top Of The World (20:24).

Meanwhile, for fans who purchased for Smart Araneta Coliseum, tickets will be assigned with equivalent seats at the New Frontier Theater.

For the fans who purchased online, your Smart Araneta Coliseum ticket will be voided and a new electronic ticket for the New Frontier show will be emailed to you starting May 1, 2023.

And, for those fans who bought thru Box Office and Outlet/s, your Smart Araneta ticket must be surrendered at the Ticketnet Box Office starting May 1, 2023 and your new tickets will be issued in exchange. Ticketnet Box Office is open daily from 10am to 8pm, including weekends

The band promises to give their fans the same joy and energy, as they showcase their riffs and chops similar to their first Manila Concert.

Tickets are still available at ticketnet.com.ph. Tickets are priced at PHP 2,750 (lower box), PHP 4,750 (patron C), PHP 5,750 (patron B), PHP 6,750 (patron A), and PHP 7,250 (VIP).

Another good news for all the fans and ticket holders. Ovation Productions and the official media partner, Tap Go TV, are giving away Dream Theater concert tickets. Visit their official Facebook pages to see the full giveaway promo mechanics.

Vilmark releases heart-rending song ‘Lisan’

GMA Music artist Vilmark drops his second self-composed single about losing someone with the emotional ballad titled ‘Lisan.’
Vilmark is thankful and overwhelmed for having another chance to share his music, “I’m just really blessed with the support and assistance na binibigay sa’kin ng buong GMA Music family. Ako ‘yung kumausap kay Kuya Paulo Agudelo and sinabi ko na I really wanted to release this song kasi I dedicate this to my father and I believe ito ‘yung perfect timing sa career ko to do something for him.”

He shared that he wrote ‘Lisan’ in memory of his father who recently died. He also said his most recent single is meant to bring comfort and hope to the listeners despite all of the difficulties and heartaches in their lives.

“This is actually personal since ito ay tungkol sa father ko pero gusto ko rin maka-relate lahat ng listeners na naiwanan, kung meron mang nag-part ways, and may mga mahal sa buhay na ‘di na nila kasama ngayon. Gusto ko ipaabot na it’s okay to grieve at maramdaman ‘yung lungkot pero we need to move forward and let’s hope na whatever is happening in our lives, there’s a reason for it. Now, I feel like I’m stronger as a person and we need to be stronger para sa mga taong kasama natin. ‘Wag tayong mawawalan ng pag-asa dahil lahat ng nangyayari sa buhay natin ay may dahilan,” he said.

Meanwhile, he is looking forward to releasing more songs and to have his own album, “I’m excited to release more songs with my GMA Music family and I’m also open to collaborate with other composers if they are willing na makapag-share ng kanta sa akin. Excited din ako sa mangyayari sa career ko and alam ko namang hindi ako pababayaan ng GMA Music.”

Tune in to Vilmark’s ‘Lisan’ which will be available on all digital streaming platforms worldwide on April 28.
