The band is popular for its strong acoustic roots and consists of the three Manzano brothers – Alejandro (lead vocals, guitar, piano), Fabian (guitar, vocals) and Daniel (bass, percussion, vocals). The band was formed in 2004 and in 2007 they began posting their videos on YouTube to great success. To date, they have over 4.8 Billion YouTube views and over 13.2 Million subscribers, making their channel one of the most popular in the world. The band frequently tours North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Australia, the Middle East and visits new countries every year.

Singer-songwriter Adie is best known for his massive hits “Paraluman”, “Tahanan”, “Dungaw” and “Mahika” which features Janine Berdin, and is currently one of the top artists on Spotify Philippines with over 3.6 million monthly listeners. OPM band Nobita burst into the music scene with their mega-hit “Ikaw Lang” and wedding-themed track “Unang Sayaw”, and also reached a new milestone in their career for achieving more than 130 million streams on Spotify alone. They are also joined in Manila by pop rock band The Juans, who are behind the chart-topping hits “Hindi Tayo Pwede” and “Hatid”, and who recently had their first major concert at the Big Dome.

Music Festival for a cause: Sigla Music Festival set to be held on July 16 in Batangas City

Dubbed as the biggest live event and concert in Southern Luzon since before the pandemic hit in 2022, the Sigla Music Festival (SMF) is set to electrify an estimated of no less than six thousand festival attendees on July 16 at the Batangas Provincial Sports Complex.

Some of the country’s top OPM artists will hit the stage to jam and serendate the crowd namely Ben&Ben, Adie, Zack Tabudlo, The Juans, Mayonnaise among others, with the said line-up topping PH’s spotify charts in recent years.

Organized by the Rotaract Club of Youth Batangueño (RYB), who made their debut as a youth-led non-government organization in 2021, in partnership with Beyond Limits Event Production, the SMF is first and foremost a benefit concert wherein a significant portion of its sales will go directly to 10 select charitable beneficiaries in the province of Batangas.

Meanwhile, despite being held in Batangas City, 107Km away from the country’s capital, SMF attendees will be coming from various places from across the island of Luzon, proving the high anticipation and excitement of concert-goers to go back again to the pre-pandemic situation.

According to Mr. Ervylle Abarintos, RYB’s Charter President, organizing such a huge event for a relatively young organization like RYB is a tough challenge but it was through their sheer hard work and dedication that all preparations were accomplished.

On the other hand, SMF will also give spotlight to budding local Batangueño artists who aspires to enter the music scene and also make an impact to the future of OPM, thereby giving a chance for newbies to have a shot at sharing their talents in the concert stage.

With tickets quickly selling out, all interested to be part of the growing SMF community are encouraged to secure their slots through https://www.facebook.com/racyouthbatangueno/

‘The Juans set for solo major concert this October’

After releasing their first full-length, all-original album during the first quarter of 2022, The Juans are now set to hold their first major concert.
And The Juans are doing it at the storied Araneta Coliseum on October 23, 2022.

The band, Carl Guevarra on vocals and keys, Japs Mendoza on vocals and guitar, RJ Cruz on acoustic rhythm guitar and Chael Adriano on bass, are all in and excited for “The Juans Live in Araneta.”

“This is a culmination of all our hard work for the past few years,” said singer-songwriter Carl Guevarra. “We’ve been at this for several years now as The Juans and we feel that we’ve been working all this time to get to this point,” he added.

Songwriter and singer Japs Mendoza concurs saying, “we’re so excited to do this. Every band has a dream venue to play and the Araneta Coliseum is one of those. It is for us as well.”

RJ Cruz and Chael Adriano, added that this concert is for their very supportive fandom, The Juanistas.

“They’ve been with us since the start, some of them have been there kahit nung wala pa kami,” RJ

Cruz said. “This will be a celebration of the music with our dear Juanistas,” chimed in Chael Adriano.

Cruz and Adriano are late additions to The Juans, joining the group when Guevarra and Mendoza revamped the original lineup.

“We almost gave up a few years ago,” said Carl. “But it’s a good thing we didn’t. We told ourselves we should go the extra mile for the band and our fans, and we should keep writing songs and I guess it paid off. We’re now actually going to have a concert at the Araneta Coliseum.”

Fans and Pinoy music fans can expect The Juans to play their hits “Hindi Tayo Pwede,” “Lumalapit” “Atin Ang Mundo,” “Hatid” and new fan-fave songs “Anghel,” “Dulo” and even their cover of “Balisong.”
The Juans Live in Araneta is a co-production between KDR Music House and Viva Live, Inc. Tickets will be available starting July 17 via Ticketnet outlets and online: www.ticketnet.com.ph. Guests will be announced at a later date.

The Juans aim to inspire on new album “Liwanag”

This is The Juans’ official statement about the theme of their new record. Said new release, the appropriately titled “Liwanag”, is the first full length release for 2022 from the hit group that brought us “Hindi Tayo Pwede”, “Hatid”, and “Istorya” among others. The band – lead singer keyboardist Carl Guevarra, singer lead-guitarist Japs Mendoza, bassist-singer Chael Adriano, drummer singer Joshua Coronel and singer rhythm guitarist RJ Cruz – put much effort and time in preparing for the roll out of this massive 15-track compilation of all original tunes of varying themes about life, love and relations.

And a big chunk of that preparation was the songwriting. And one of big boasts of this new record is that for the first time, The Juans have doubled the source of song contributors. Whereas before, lead singers Carl Guevarra and Japs Mendoza have the bulk of songwriting, this time, bassist Chael Adriano and guitarist RJ Cruz are contributing significantly to the songwriting. And the resulting sound is adventurous.

While most retain a pop sheen, The Juans are pushing outside of their sonic comfort zones. Danceable tracks like “Pangalan” sit comfortably side by side with the anthemic numbers like “Liwanag” and electropop flavored tunes like “Pinakahihintay”. Which is to say that The Juans are consciously innovating their sound. And tracks like “Salamin” and “Love You” are fine examples as these are strikingly different from their past releases.

Come to think of it, trying out new approaches to songs have been a hallmark of the band. As a result, they’ve never stagnated in their almost decade-old career. Listening to the faux-rap and trap beat inflected original song “Kahon”, the dance pop flavored “Still Standing” and the showtunes-y “Teka Muna” , seems so far away from the sound of their “Atin Ang Mundo” debut.

One of the highlights in “Liwanag” is the poignant and yearning piano ballad called “Kuya”. A song that seems to embody the underlying themes of hope and inspiration. “Kuya” seems to capture the singer at his lowest, and yet despite, still yearns for hope that there will be better days. As The Juans themselves said: “Lahat tayo kailangan ng liwanag; liwanag na gumagabay, liwanag na nagbibigay buhay; ang liwanag na nagpapalinaw sa mga bagay na hindi natin maintindihan at Liwanag na tutunnaw sa mga kasinungalingan niyayakap natin sa kadiliman.”

Previously released fan-fave singles “Anghel”, “Dulo” and “Sabik” are also included to complete this pivotal new album.

Anticipating the release of “Liwanag” on all streaming platforms, The Juans and VIVA Records have lined up a grand day of activities on Mar. 17, 2022 that will start the press conference at the Boteyju in Fisher Mall in Quezon City.

Then a short exclusive interview with radio partner Wish FM 107.5’s Wishbus (situated just in front of Fisher Mall) commences after the presser. But the day’s highlights will be later in the evening for The Juans listening party for the “Liwanag” album at 6pm.

After which a red-carpet affair for the band, movie and TV personalities and fellow pop acts and musicians will follow for the premiere of the official lyric videos of the songs from the album which will be shown at the Fisher Mall Cinema.

Then music fans can listen to “LIWANAG” when it drops first at Spotify at 9pm. Eventually, The Juans new album will made available to all streaming platforms by midnight of March 18, 2022.

The lyric videos first seen on the big screen will be released on The Juans official Youtube channel by March 18, 2022 (1pm).

Special thanks to Boteyju Fisher Mall, Fisher Mall Cinemas, and Wish FM 107.5. The Juans “LIWANAG” album is released by VIVA RECORDS.

Sing your heart out this Christmas with TM’s Kantahang FunPasko

Whether it’s Yuletide carols playing on loop, a live band playing the year’s chart-toppers, or everyone’s favorite uncle singing the night away on the karaoke mic he’s been hogging for the past five songs, there’s nothing like having music at a Pinoy Christmas get together to double everyone’s good vibes or GV. And while pandemic restrictions may have dampened our musical merry-making during the holidays, there are new ways to keep old traditions alive—one of which is through TM’s Kantahang FunPasko.

“Because we are now in our second year in a pandemic, we at TM wanted to give Filipinos the doble-dobleng GV that they deserve,” says Darius Delgado, TM Vice President for Consumer Mobile Business.

TM’s Kantahang FunPasko started off with a musical bonanza with the recent release of TM’s Playlist on Spotify with songs that ka-TMs love.

Playlist tracks include the TM FunPasko song “Dobleng GV sa FunPasko (Noon, Ngayon, Palagi),” an anthem about raising Filipinos’ Christmas spirit amid the pandemic; “Push ang Pusuan”; “Fun Pasko 2020”; and “TM Doble Dekada,” a song that celebrates 20 years of TM and all of its subscribers, who are carrying on with the Samahang Pina-Easy spirit.

Last November 26, TM launches the official music video of “Dobleng GV sa FunPasko (Noon, Ngayon, Palagi)”. It features ka-TMs The Juans, SB19, Matthaios, Silent Sanctuary, Donnalyn Bartolome, Seth Fedelin, Andrea Brillantes, Alden Richards and our stans from TM Mad Rush To Your Crush—showing us that everyone is welcome sa TM samahan.

“With TM, there’s no stopping the doble-dobleng GV that Kantahang FunPasko will bring to this year’s Christmas celebrations,” says Delgado. “This musical experience allows our customers to find solace in these special songs and become part of something bigger than themselves.”
