Ebe Dancel marks 20th anniversary of Sugarfree’s Sa Wakas with campus-themed music fair

Filipino alternative rock icon Ebe Dancel celebrates the enduring legacy of Sugarfree’s Sa Wakas with an experiential treat that brings to mind the colorful vibe of UP Fair and the intimacy of a packed, outdoor event.
SA WAKAS: 20th Anniversary Celebration marks another milestone for the multi-awarded singer-songwriter as he brings to life the classic anthems that define an entire generation.

The highly anticipated show will take place at 123 Block, Mandala Park on January 28, 2022 (Saturday), from 4:30pm onwards, and feature a full-length, all-Sugafree set by Ebe Dancel, with special participation of Mitch Singson, as well as guest performances by Cheats, Johnoy Danao, The Itchyworms and more.

To make the celebration more special and personal, important personalities who were part of making Sa Wakas will also be gracing the event, either as performers or as special guests.
Not only will there be live music, but Mandala Park will also be turned into an amusement venue with carnival games and rides, arts and crafts booths, record and book stores, food stands, and other immersive activities.

“At the core of Sa Wakas is nostalgia shaped by bittersweet memories and adolescent discoveries,” says Ian Urrutia, PR and Marketing Director of GNN Entertainment Productions. “We want to honor the impact of Sugarfree’s debut album by reliving the simple joys of going to college or university fairs with friends, family, and loved ones. Looking back doesn’t have to be getting stuck in the past. Sometimes, it’s okay to experience the old times with fondness and a different perspective as it gives new meaning to these memories. We’re finding means not to reimagine Sa Wakas, but to celebrate it: a record that feels like a tight embrace at the end of the dark days.”

Backspacer Records, one of the co-presenters of the show, also shared their excitement in mounting a celebration of this caliber. “It has always been our aim at Backspacer Records to help channel music from the past into the present through our vinyl record releases. In the past year, we have successfully produced and released Ebe Dancel’s Bawat Daan and Habangbuhay albums on vinyl. And now, for the first time, we get to bring you a live music experience with the Sa Wakas 20th Anniversary show. As Ebe Dancel’s fans since his Sugarfree days, this is such a treat for us: to mark this important milestone with a throwback celebration, complete with a fun and laid-back college fair vibe. This night will definitely be a nostalgia trip, full of reminiscing while singing along to songs that have become the soundtracks of our youth.”

Special merch will be sold exclusively at the venue, and select Ebe Dancel albums and other important local/foreign records will be available via Backspacer Records.

SA WAKAS: 20th Anniversary Celebration is presented by GNN Entertainment Productions and Backspacer Records, in partnership with 123 Block and Balcony Entertainment.

#EastwoodNYE2023: Eastwood City to host bigger, brighter New Year Countdown 2023

Eastwood City, home of the longest-running and most-anticipated New Year’s Eve countdown celebration in Manila, returns with a bigger and brighter series of events to usher in the year 2023.

Going all out with its biggest celebration in two years, Eastwood – Quezon City New Year Countdown 2023 is set to return with a bang this December 31 at the Eastwood Mall Open Park with the much-anticipated free-for-all event that will feature live musical performances, fireworks displays, the iconic Star Drop, exciting activities, and an after-party that will run until the early hours of 2023.

The Rock to New Year’s Eve concert will begin at around 9PM. Guests can jam to energizing performances from Christian Bautista, Lola Amour, Yeng Constantino, and Zack Tabudlo.

The event will be hosted by Janeena Chan and Christian Bautista

When the clock strikes twelve, the crowd will be treated to a stunning view of Shower of Stars, a simultaneous fireworks display that will happen in two locations: at the 1880 Building and at the Global One Building. Eastwood City’s traditional Star Drop, which hearkens to the world-famous Ball Drop in Times Square in New York City, will also signal the changing of year, as well as a special Bubble Shower.

All night long, guests can visit Tipple Stations around Eastwood City, where they can toast to a selection of premium booze. Revelers can also swing by the New Year Picks booths, where they can find NYE merchandise, a sparkling photo wall for souvenirs, and other activities that are best enjoyed with family and friends.

The celebrations continue at the NYE After-Party at Fuente Circle, where there will be exciting games and a live DJ set awaiting revelers.

Those who are planning to relish in grand feasts or New Year gift hunting, Shop ‘Til Star Drop will treat guests to mall-wide deals and promotions on dining and shopping.

“This will be our grandest New Year’s Eve celebration after two years so we are excited to welcome everyone back to Eastwood City. We made it a point that our festivities will bring joy and entertainment; and most importantly inspire everyone to have a positive outlook and a determined spirit to face the year 2023,” said Graham Coates, Head of Megaworld Lifestyle Malls.

Eraserheads: Huling El Bimbo concert release show guidelines for concert goers

Everything is all set for Eraserheads’ long-awaited and final reunion concert in the Philippines! With the event just one day away, organizers have released concert guidelines to ensure the safety of all goers. This comes after a meeting wherein the venue and city officials committed to ensuring a smooth and fun concert for all.

Gates now open at 2PM

Previously slated at 4PM, concert gates will now open at 2PM to lessen queue time for concert goers. This will also allow them to enter the concert grounds earlier to avoid overcrowding.

There will be three (3) designated entrances, arranged according to audience sections. Gate 4 will be open for Moshpit and VIP ticket holders; Gate 3 for Platinum, Gold, and Silver ticket holders; and Gate 2 for Bronze and Angkas (Gen AD) ticket holders. Entrances are located along Aseana Ave.

No stopping, no drop-offs

Organizers will strictly impose a no-stopping and no drop-off zone along Aseana Ave. Vehicles entering Aseana Ave will not be allowed to stop in front of the SMDC Festival Grounds. In line with this, concertgoers are asked to strictly follow designated pedestrian lanes leading up to the concert venue.

Concert goers bringing their vehicles must get ready to take a bit of a walk to the venue. Nearest parking options are located at the Aseana City Block 8 Open Parking (entrance via J.W. Diokno Boulevard), Open Parking by the Church of Saint John Paul, Bradco Parking near Nissan, Aseana Square Parking, Ayala Malls Manila Bay Mall Parking, SM Maax Parking, and SM Mall of Asia Parking. There are also designated drop-off and pick-up points near these parking options.

Get ready for an epic concert

Concert goers need not worry about food and drinks, as there will be concessionaires in each section. Portable toilets can also be found in each area and medics will be on standby. In case of a medical emergency, immediately head toward the nearest medical tent located on the left and right side of each section. Marshals will be at each area to guide and assist concert goers.

Save the event map above and take note of emergency exits nearest to you.

Fans are encouraged to come early so as not to miss any of the exciting moments and surprises the band has prepared for their fans.

Eraserheads will jam with OPM’s biggest artists including Gary Valenciano, Jazz Nicolas of Itchyworms, Mikey Amistoso of Ciudad, Audrey Dionisio of General Luna, the late Francis M, and the A.M.P. (Asosasyon ng Musikang Pilipino) Orchestra.

Show starts at 8 PM so don’t be late!

Fans unable to go to the concert can watch the show via livestream. In the Philippines, there are two options to secure front-row seats at home and online for only P650.

All Stars Lead to ‘Social U: Polaris’ at UP Sunken Garden this December 21!

There’s no arguing about it, Christmas is quite possibly the most awaited holiday in the Philippines. From the bright lights, delicious meals and catch up with family and friends, there’s really nothing like the Filipino holiday season! Following over two years of being kept in the “dark” by the global pandemic, 2022 is ending on a high note and leaving us with brighter possibilities for the year to come. Everyone’s wish seems to have been granted this year as social gatherings and live events are finally (almost!!!) in full swing.

What better way to commemorate this than with a concert featuring the country’s up-and-coming acts and your favourite local artists. Kick off your Christmas week festivities with the comeback of the famous U.P. Lantern Parade then end it on a sweet note with Social U: Polaris – A Balik UP Concert.

Social U is a school tour initiative by UMUSIC Philippines that aims to amplify students’ love for OPM and champion the respective advocacies of various student organizations. To kickoff the on-ground debut of this initiative, UMUSIC is partnering with Upsilon Sigma Phi of the University of the Philippines to bring SOCIAL U: POLARIS on December 21, 2022.

Sing your hearts out to the music of the country’s most sought after artists – December Avenue, Zack Tabudlo and Juan Karlos alongside ZILD, Tanya Markova, Over October, Dionela, Daniel Paringit, One Click Straight, CHNDTR, Morobeats, Tiffany Lhei, Unit 406, Elise Huang, Hey June! and Sid Buan. While you’re at it, you get to help up to 80 UP students too as Polaris will be sponsoring dormitory rent for students who need it the most.

Tickets start at Php 399 for UP Students, Php 499 for Non-UP Students and Php 699 for those who purchase on the night of the event. Tickets are available online at http://bit.ly/PolarisBalikUPConcert2022. This event is brought to you by Upsilon Sigma Phi and UMUSIC Philippines.

Filipino rock queens Acel, Aia, Barbie, Hannah, Kitchie and Lougee to stage comeback show this month!

Due to insistent public demand, Pinoy rock queens Acel Bisa, Aia de Leon, Barbie Almalbis, Hannah Romawac, Kitchie Nadal, and Lougee Basabas are staging another run of their collaborative show at 123 Block in Mandala Park, Mandaluyong City this December 14, 2022, from 8 p.m. onwards.

This time around, the iconic women of the late ‘90s to mid-2000s OPM are set to perform together in an outdoor venue known for standing-room-only crowds—a deliberate contrast to the lavish, state-of-the-art halls of The Theatre At Solaire where they held their sold-out concert last weekend. The alt-rock royalties give a mighty salute to their humble beginnings, by harkening back to the era of playing for quaint hole-in-the-wall productions and channeling the unadulterated vigor of the gig scene with a mix of fearlessness and abandon.

Dubbed Tanawin: A Thanksgiving and Listening Party, the intimate gig serves as a medium to give back to the fans who have shown unwavering support and love through their decades of navigating stardom, setbacks, motherhood, uncertainty, and faith. It also provides an opportunity for the participating acts to preview new material and announce special projects that will see the light of day starting next year.

As the title of the show implies, Tanawin sees the beauty of gazing longingly ahead of time, be it out of reflection, curiosity, or admiration. As singer-songwriters find new meaningful ways to share music and deliver confessionals, the ladies of Tanawin are ready to put out new songs in the same way that they’re comfortable serenading the crowd with familiar hits.

“While it takes courage to step into the realm of the unknown, it is doable alone,” says Aia de Leon. “But why walk alone when you can party with sisters moving forward?”

Presented by GNN Entertainment Productions, Tanawin marks the second time that the six solo acts will be performing together live. From their early days as lead vocalists of late ‘90s/early 2000s bands, to establishing their identity as individual artists, the six acclaimed singer-songwriters have proven their staying power with sold-out tours and concerts, chart-topping singles and albums, and a dedicated fanbase.
Regular and VIP tickets are available at PHP 1,300 and PHP 2,200 VIP respectively, for a limited number/time only. Get it here: bit.ly/tanawintickets

ERASERHEADS TO PERFORM IN FINAL REUNION IN THE PHILIPPINES

The upcoming concert of Filipino rock icons, the Eraserheads, will be their last in the Philippines as confirmed by the producers.

“This will be the last reunion of the group that’s why we want to give the fans one last epic show,” Francis Lumen, one of the producers of the concert and president of WEU, said.

This was confirmed by Diane Ventura, one of the co-producers of the concert and manager of lead vocalist Ely Buendia. “This is definitely the last reunion of the Eraserheads in the Philippines,” Ventura said.

The show was aptly dubbed as Huling El Bimbo, signaling that it is indeed the group’s final performance. Two weeks after the initial release of tickets, producers expanded the capacity to accommodate more concert goers.

Lead vocalist Ely Buendia said that the Huling El Bimbo isn’t like any other previous reunion concerts. “Because we love our fans, we want to give them something different here. It’s the beginning of a new chapter in our lives and we also want them to have a special memory of Eraserheads as we move forward,” Buendia said.

The concert promises an unforgettable experience of Eraserheads including an 18-piece orchestra, a drone show and a hologram of the late Francis M. The reunion concert is Eraserheads’ gift to fans as they kick-off the Christmas spirit before the yuletide celebrations.

The Huling El Bimbo – Eraserheads Reunion Concert 2022 is a production by WEU Event Management Services, Ant Savvy Creatives and Entertainment Inc., DVent Productions and Myriad Entertainment Corporation. The event is presented by SMART, Coke Studio, PLDT, Angkas, and Maya. This concert is co-presented by SM Supermalls, and in participation with San Miguel Corporation and Okada Manila. Sold-out US concert tour of Christian Bautista, Morissette, and Erik Santos back for second run this November

Coming from the successful Threelogy US Tour that was sold out in six cities in April, Starmedia exclusively brings back Asia’s Romantic Balladeer Christian Bautista, Asia’s Phoenix Morissette, and Pop Ballad Royalty and King of OPM theme songs Erik Santos for Threelogy 2.0 happening in four US cities this November.

“We’re excited about this concert that will feature fresh takes on our favorite and most requested songs from these amazing artists, and I’m sure our kababayans will enjoy the show! ” said Anna Puno, concert producer and President and CEO of Starmedia Entertainment.

Heartthrob crooner Christian Bautista has been serenading fans as “Asia’s Romantic Balladeer” for two decades now. This October, Christian bagged the Male Recording Artist of the Year award for his single “Bukas Wala Nang Ulan” at the 13th PMPC Star Awards for Music.

Morissette, meanwhile, recently earned the most nominations for an artist in the 35th Awit Awards and was hailed the National Winner for Best Theme Song at the prestigious 2022 Asian Academy Creative Awards for her rendition of the massive hit “Gusto Ko Nang Bumitaw.” Last August, the singer-songwriter and proud Cebuana also unveiled her new Bisaya single “Undangon Ta Ni,” which loosely translates to “Let’s Stop This,” a song about moving forward and choosing oneself. The song is available on all streaming platforms including Spotify, where Morissette has reached 1 million monthly streams.

Erik Santos has been in the entertainment industry for 19 years and has a rich discography, concert appearances, several accolades, and a slew of hits to his name. He is the voice behind numerous unforgettable ABS-CBN teleserye theme songs and, to this day, is a mainstay at the Sunday variety show ASAP and a hurado for It’s Showtime’s long-time singing competition “Tawag ng Tanghalan.” He recently released a song called “Hanggang Sa Huli” from the album “The Music of Jonathan Manalo: 20 Years.”
