Clara Benin to stage ‘befriending my tears’ headlining concert this September

Clara Benin celebrates the release of her sophomore studio album with a major concert happening at the Music Museum on September 22, 2023 (Friday), from 8pm onwards.

Aptly titled ‘befriending my tears, a Clara Benin concert,’ the show chronicles Benin’s journey as an artist coming to terms with self-acceptance and healing while showcasing musical maturity through years of experience and growth.

“Headlining my concert at the Music Museum feels incredibly exciting and a bit nerve-wracking,” the Filipino singer-songwriter shares. “I think that the venue’s classic charm and quality acoustics make it the perfect place to perform my new album! I really want my fans to be comfortable and fully immersed in my music, so choosing a seated venue was very important to me.”

‘befriending my tears, a Clara Benin concert’ serves as her second major show after staging a sold-out, two-night residency at Teatrino Greenhills in 2016. This time around, the Parallel Universe artist will be performing all the songs from her newly released album, along with fan favorites from her catalog.

“I haven’t performed a very long set in a while,” Benin explains. “You can expect to hear all the new songs from my album and, of course, some old favorites.”

A tribute to an album that honors Benin’s newfound artistry and emotional strength, don’t miss your chance to be part of this show-stopping concert.

‘befriending my tears, a Clara Benin concert’ is presented by CNCA Media Concepts Inc., in partnership with Sony Music Entertainment and GNN Entertainment Productions.

OPM hitmaker Freestyle to celebrate 25 years of music at Music Museum on May 20

After numerous sold-out concerts since the relaunching of Freestyle with original frontman and songwriter Top Suzara last year, the iconic OPM band is set to take the big stage with a 25th anniversary concert happening on May 20, 2023 at the Music Museum.

Entitled “Giving It All This Time”, the concert invites the audience to journey through 25 years of Freestyle’s music and officially mark a new chapter of the band with the all-male cast of Ian Tan, Lerod Cailao, Bouy Manalo, and IJ Garcia joining Suzara.

“This is my 25th year in the industry and this show will, one, be the first official show in a concert setting where we will celebrate with all original songs, and, two, be the resurgence of Freestyle as we make good on the promise to continue together where I left off many years ago, when writing and sharing original songs was what drove us. This concert will be a story-telling journey through songs,” explains Suzara.

With hit songs such as “Before I Let You Go”, “So Slow”, “This Time”, “Till I Found You”, “Para Sayo”, their rendition of “Bakit Ngayon Ka Lang?”, and “Once In A Lifetime”, Freestyle intends to bring its unique brand of music to a bigger stage at the Music Museum in San Juan, Metro Manila on May 20 to welcome more fans after a successful string of concerts from last year.

“The past few months have been awesome. The fans really missed Freestyle especially with Top as part of the band. Most of the venues that we’ve performed in were sold out – which we’re so thankful for,” shares Garcia, who performs as keyboardist and music director.

Meanwhile, Freestyle drummer Cailao recounts the excitement of fans who have even booked flights from provinces or from overseas to watch the gigs.

“It’s amazing to see the supporters of Freestyle really showing support for the band. When they hear Top’s voice and their all-time favorite songs, you can really feel their excitement and emotions pouring out. It’s very touching, and it inspires us to work harder to do great shows every night,” said Cailao.

“I believe the top hit songs of Freestyle – “This Time” and “Before I Let You Go” – still touch the audience up to this point. These iconic songs trigger nostalgia. It is a good thing Freestyle music remained to be aired, used in several movies, and has reached a greater demographic,” shares bassist Tan.

Manalo, who performs as guitarist and has been an avid fan of the band, shares that playing with Freestyle is a dream come true, saying, “As a new band member of Freestyle, I’m still overwhelmed with everything. I still pinch myself at every show we do.”

Following the relaunch of the band in October 2022, Freestyle has also been busy sharing new music with audiences.

“The first new song we released is called “Maybe”, a song that talks of what ifs and second chances. We’ve included this song in most of our live gigs and shows and so far people have been receiving it very well,” shares Garcia.

Frontman Suzara has also hinted at future performances and releases in the pipeline, including concert tours around the Philippines and abroad and more new songs Freestyle fans can enjoy.

With this new and exciting chapter in Freestyle’s journey, the band assures its audience that it will continue to stay true to its distinct brand of original Filipino music telling honest and relevant stories that hit close to the heart.

“We’re surprised to see so many younger people appreciating the songs even if they hadn’t been born yet when these became popular. It goes to show how timeless Freestyle’s brand of music is. It spans generations,” says Cailao.

Tickets to “Giving It All This Time” on May 20, 2023 (Saturday) at the Music Museum are available on TicketWorld and Music Museum. For reservations, please text or call PPMPI at 09285106000.

Rico Blanco, Maris Racal, Ebe Dancel, and more in Balcony Entertainment LIVE concert this June

After what seems like an eternity of waiting, fans are in for a treat as one of the country’s top management labels BALCONY ENTERTAINMENT is gearing-up for a most eagerly anticipated local live concert.

Balcony Entertainment Live – slated on June 11th at Music Museum in Greenhills, San Juan – promises to be an amazing showcase and celebration of local talent, as it features the country’s top acts, led by the ultimate entertainer RICO BLANCO, acclaimed singer-songwriter EBE DANCEL, pop superstar MARIS RACAL, lo-fi/indie songwriter and producer RAVEN, songwriting wunderkind ZILD, and modern alternative group NEVER THE STRANGERS.

The lineup alone speaks volumes about how the event promises to be the proverbial tour de force that aims to re-ignite the local music scene after a two-year plus hibernation.

“I welcomed most of these amazing artists into the Balcony family just in the last couple of years and mostly during pandemic,” Blanco (who doubles as Balcony Entertainment’s CEO…) begins to explain, when asked how the seed was planted and how the event came together. “All this time, I had the honor of guiding them and keeping them musically productive, even during the time when there were no gigs… we were able to churn out a lot of amazing new releases through the lockdown, but admittedly, I was really excited about the shows that would happen once things got back to normal: it was very clear to me we would have an incredible lineup for concerts and tours, and now I’m thrilled that we’re able to take this first small step.”

“I’m most-looking forward to meet the rest of the Balcony Entertainment family and roster of artists, since for the past two years, they’ve mostly been my ‘internet friends,’ says Zild, whose emergence during the pandemic was a much-needed shot of musical brilliance and magic for listeners. “It feels like a grand eyeball / meeting for all, including the different communities of music fans.” Fellow artist and singer/songwriter Ebe Dancel also shared the same sentiment and gave massive props to his fellow artists as well: “I’m such a big fan of Zild’s, it’s been ages since I’ve seen Rico perform – believe it or not – and I’ve never seen Maris live, so I am both a performer and a fan come June 11th.”

And speaking of Racal, the pop superstar shares: “I’m excited because it’s my first gig with Balcony Entertainment and it’s also my album launch – so I’m looking forward to seeing all the ‘mariestellers’ and to finally perform my new songs in front of a live audience.”

And the legion of loyal fans and followers – who have dubbed themselves the “Balconation” – are incredibly excited as well to troop over to the Music Museum to witness history-in-the-making. Without a doubt, their enthusiasm and anticipation for a musical showcase like this will finally be rewarded, as they collectively followed and supported the releases of the Balcony Entertainment roster throughout the pandemic. This is the perfect culmination of that fervent fandom – to be able to see and witness the live impact of the songs and material of the said artists.

“I’m excited for the fans to discover the other artists they might not have originally been tuned-in to,” Blanco continues, and adds: “I’ve had countless memorable performances at the Music Museum throughout the years, and I know that this particular first for the Balconation will be incredibly special as well.”
