Globe Celebrates 917 with an #ExtraGDay

The iconic 0917 is now more than just a mobile prefix for Globe subscribers. Over the past years, Globe has taken 0917 or September 17 as an opportunity to treat its customers to exciting experiences, rewards, and surprises. It is one way that Globe thanks its customers for their loyalty and support, a celebration that transforms ordinary days into something extraordinary.

This year, Globe is back with a bigger, larger than life 917 GDay celebration full of all things EXTRA for the whole month of September. The focal point of this year’s 917 GDay celebrations is the G Music Fest, which will take place on September 17, 2022. The G Music Fest is going to be an exciting whole day festival that will feature the best talents in music, entertainment, culture and art. This year’s G Music Fest will be a hybrid event, with the live experience hosted at the Globe Circuit Event Grounds, Ayala Malls Circuit, Makati, and also streamed online through Globe VH Metaverse.

“The past couple of years have been incredibly challenging for everyone. Now that the world is slowly opening up and we can enjoy life together face-to-face, we’re excited to once again bring all the uplifting, lighthearted experiences that our loyal customers may have been missing and needing,” said Globe Marketing Head Pia Colby.

Seventeen local and international acts are slated to entertain live and online audiences, including Thai indie-pop, neo-soul singer-songwriter Phum Viphurit and Kpop act BugABoo, a six-member South Korean girl group, for whom the G Music Fest will be their first live Philippines performance. Other confirmed musical acts are homegrown talents The Juans, Kaia, Matthaios, Unique, I Belong to the Zoo, JOEM, Lola Amour, Arthur MIguel, Paul Pablo and many more surprise guests.

As the G Music Fest is about extraordinary experiences, Globe has also invited celebrated contemporary artist-designer Leeroy New, to showcase his larger-than-life art installations. New, who hails from General Santos City, has had his works showcased at, among others, the Singapore Biennale, Fukuoka Asian Art Triennial, and more recently at Palais de Tokyo, Biennale of Sydney, Honolulu Triennale, and Somerset House. He was also selected to build an installation for Burning Man 2020. Another artist who will share his talent is TRNZ, who ventures into the world of NFTs. His past work has been exhibited in Hong Kong, Europe, South Korea, Jakarta, Los Angeles & New York, with an upcoming exhibition in Paris. TRNZ is the exclusive artist of Superordinary Friends, a collection of unique avatars each holding iconic food items. These limited edition illustrations combine quirky visual appeal with nuanced storytelling and will be launched in October.

Adding to the excitement, festival goers will also have the chance to own their first Non-Fungible Token (NFT) through Globe’s partnership with MetaverseGo!. The two brands have joined forces to create Gudi, a unique NFT in celebration of 917 #ExtraGDay and can be redeemed using Globe Rewards points.

Complementing the top-tier musical line-up and larger-than-life installations on the festival grounds is Globe Passion City where festival goers can use their Globe Rewards Points to enjoy fun & immersive Gaming (GGWP), Korean (Kmmunity Ph) and Anime (Sugoi Society) activities and merch collections.

Digital natives will also get to enjoy exciting activity booths and win vouchers from their favorite apps TikTok, Tinder, foodpanda, Kumu, and many others. Specially curated festival grub and pours, and exclusive 0917 merchandise are also available for guests to enjoy.

These are just some of the wonderful things one can expect at this year’s G Music Fest, and Globe still has a lot more surprises up its sleeve. Now in its third year, G Music Fest was born during the pandemic to inspire optimism and recognize every Globe customer’s continued patronage of the brand. Past performers include American pop rock band LANY, and proudly homegrown talents Kiana Valenciano, Ben & Ben, UDD, and SB19 among others.

“A lot of things have changed since the pandemic hit, but a lot of things have remained the same. We continue to be grateful to our customers and we’ll never tire of making wonderful, extraordinary experiences for them. We look forward to meeting everyone at the G Music Fest on 9-17, and we promise you an #ExtraGDayEveryday,” Colby added.

The G Music Fest Festival Pass pre-selling period is from September 2 – 9, 2022 and the regular sale period is on September 10 – 17, 2022. HERO and Matthaios drop chill urban banger “Dito”

Rising rap star HERO just joined forces with a popular name in today’s hip-hop scene for a fresh single!

After releasing “Primera”, he worked with Matthaios to release their surprise collaborative single “Dito”, out under Universal Records Philippines.

In this new song, the two young and talented artists perfectly merged their sheer musicality and lyric sensibility, packed with some catchy and superbly bop-including beats and rhymes. Their artistic style clash complemented each other so well, thus, it brought so much unique touch to this track.

“Dito” is an anthemic rap love song that talks about the happiness brought by your one and only apple of the eye and your willingness to spend as much time as possible for her.

“Ang importante tayo umabante / Problema’y dadaanan at hindi tatambayan / Kahit gaano kataas pa man ang kailangan na lampasan / Tayo ay mas matibay sa araw man o ulan,” the lyrics emanates.

An official music video for this urban banger was also released. Directed by John Selirio, the visual features simple and feel-good yet evocative storytelling that matches the whole song’s vibe as we see Hero and Matthaios chilling and road tripping with their girlfriends. As the artists serenade you throughout this track with such LSS-inducing chorus and driving beats, the music video ends in a hilarious plot twist. It turns out that their girlfriends have an uncanny resemblance because they are actually twins, perfectly portrayed by real-life identical twins Ritchelle and Rochelle San Pedro.

HERO and Matthaios absolutely crushed this song, and it’s definitely your next perfect track for road trips or abrupt getaways. Check it out on your favorite digital streaming platforms right now!

Sing your heart out this Christmas with TM’s Kantahang FunPasko

Whether it’s Yuletide carols playing on loop, a live band playing the year’s chart-toppers, or everyone’s favorite uncle singing the night away on the karaoke mic he’s been hogging for the past five songs, there’s nothing like having music at a Pinoy Christmas get together to double everyone’s good vibes or GV. And while pandemic restrictions may have dampened our musical merry-making during the holidays, there are new ways to keep old traditions alive—one of which is through TM’s Kantahang FunPasko.

“Because we are now in our second year in a pandemic, we at TM wanted to give Filipinos the doble-dobleng GV that they deserve,” says Darius Delgado, TM Vice President for Consumer Mobile Business.

TM’s Kantahang FunPasko started off with a musical bonanza with the recent release of TM’s Playlist on Spotify with songs that ka-TMs love.

Playlist tracks include the TM FunPasko song “Dobleng GV sa FunPasko (Noon, Ngayon, Palagi),” an anthem about raising Filipinos’ Christmas spirit amid the pandemic; “Push ang Pusuan”; “Fun Pasko 2020”; and “TM Doble Dekada,” a song that celebrates 20 years of TM and all of its subscribers, who are carrying on with the Samahang Pina-Easy spirit.

Last November 26, TM launches the official music video of “Dobleng GV sa FunPasko (Noon, Ngayon, Palagi)”. It features ka-TMs The Juans, SB19, Matthaios, Silent Sanctuary, Donnalyn Bartolome, Seth Fedelin, Andrea Brillantes, Alden Richards and our stans from TM Mad Rush To Your Crush—showing us that everyone is welcome sa TM samahan.

“With TM, there’s no stopping the doble-dobleng GV that Kantahang FunPasko will bring to this year’s Christmas celebrations,” says Delgado. “This musical experience allows our customers to find solace in these special songs and become part of something bigger than themselves.”
