Felip, Dilaw, Lola Amour and more to kick-off Warner Music Philippines’ “We Play Here” event

It’s a celebration of star-studded proportions with the launch of Warner Music Philippines’ We Play Here!

As part of the label’s core mission to be at the forefront of championing Filipino music, Warner Music Philippines is celebrating its 30th anniversary in the country with a series of live performances and events to bring fans as well as local and international artists even closer together. To jumpstart the celebrations, six of the country’s most beloved musical acts are coming together for a one-of-a-kind, high-energy event.

SB19’s Ken—performing under his mononym FELIP—leads the lineup after his stellar solo debut earlier this year. After just three months since the release of his debut EP, COM·PLEX has over 3 million total streams on Spotify, with three of his singles charting on the platform’s Viral 50 Philippines playlist. He also received rave reviews for his dark and edgy brand of hip hop, with publications such as HipHopDX Asia saying that, “FELIP allows himself to go to the farthest, most experimental, and even most unthinkable places and tap into his own instincts to make music and art with the utmost freedom.”

The rising Davao-based hip hop group PLAYERTWO are expected to bring their a-game to the Samsung Hall stage. Composed of vocalists-producers Ivo Impreso, Luke April, Wave P, and visual directors Puhken and Ven Villariza, they soared to the top of the Spotify charts, with their breakout single “THAT’S MY BABY” garnering over 9 million streams. Their latest release, “TIKTIKTOKIN” has become a fan favorite as the quintet make their way all over the Philippines on their THAT’S MY BABY tour.

Rounding out the hip hop artists on the lineup is R&B singer and rapper JRLDM. A multi-awarded and internationally recognized performer, he is best known for his emotional and heartfelt flows that resonate with audiences. He, alongside labelmate Arkho of Midnasty, joined the inaugural edition of The Regionals: Philippines, the Philippine leg of the first ever Pan-Asia rap cypher series.

Rising pop band Dilaw will also be performing during the event. The band went viral on social media for their breakout song, “Uhaw (Tayong Lahat),” with over 22 million Spotify streams and over 1 million videos on TikTok. Just recently, the track clinched the top spot of Spotify’s Top Songs Philippines chart. They’re ready to bring their brand of unconventional lyricism and catchy tunes to the Samsung Hall stage.

Beloved pop rock band Lola Amour is one of the biggest acts in the music industry—playing in some of the biggest malls, schools, and festivals in the country. Their status as a fan favorite in the country definitely shows, especially with multiple Awit Award nominations to their name. As one of the most exciting bands in the scene today, they’ve played in venues all over the country, from malls, and even music festivals. Get ready to sing along to some of their biggest hits like “Fallen,” “Pwede Ba,” or “Madali.”

Last but definitely not the least are the soul and R&B duo Leanne & Naara, who are set to complete the event’s star-studded lineup. The pair is considered as one of the most decorated contemporary acts today, especially after they dominated the Awit Awards and snagged the highly-coveted Song of the Year and Album of the Year awards. Their silky smooth vocals are sure to sweep audiences off their feet.

“Our We Play Here series showcases and celebrates everything that is so exciting about where this generation of Filipino artists is at right now,” shares Sarah Ismail, Managing Director of Warner Music Philippines. “The acts are bigger, better, and more diverse than ever before, and our whole team is so proud of the role that Warner Music Philippines is playing in the global rise of OPM.

Fans and music lovers alike can expect more events that showcase the pride of Filipino music in the coming months. Stay tuned!

We Play Here kicks off this April 27, 6 PM, Thursday at the SM Aura Samsung Hall. Pre-sale tickets for the first installment of We Play Here are sold out, but regular tickets are still available at P950. You can purchase tickets online via https://weplayhere.helixpay.ph and follow @weplayhere_ for event updates, artist meet & greet activities, and merchandise announcements.

FALLING HEAD OVER HEELS FOR LOLA AMOUR’S MUSIC

Despite the local music scene being hit hard by the pandemic, musicians from left and right are releasing hit singles, full-fledged albums, to viral and interactive content. And one of those artists who are enjoying their fair share of success is Warner Music Philippines’ seven-piece band Lola Amour with their breakthrough single “Fallen.” A year after its release, “Fallen” is now at 25 million streams on Spotify and peaked at #11 last Saturday, November 19 on Spotify Philippines’ Top 50 chart. “Fallen” is a danceable tune with catchy trumpet hooks and lyrics that are easily relatable – how do you tell a person that you’ve fallen for them? “Fallen has been getting a lot of great feedback and is continuously being streamed more times than we expected,” the band says. Apart from millions of streams, the hashtag #FallenStory took TikTok by storm, with people telling stories about their love life.

Lola Amour has been on the wild ride of their lives being one of the most sought-after bands in the country today. The band is composed of Pio Dumayas (vocals, guitar), Zoey Gonzales (guitar), Raymond King (bass), David Yuhico (keyboard), Angelo Mesina (trumpet), and two session musicians. Naming themselves after Dumayas’ grandmother, they started making waves in the local music scene after winning Wanderband 2016, an annual competition by Wanderland Arts and Music Festival. Fusing pop, rock, and funk, Lola Amour’s music became an instant favorite among listeners, particularly the millennials, Gen Z, and Gen Alpha. The band has been on a non-stop musical journey since, from playing in multiple music festivals and fairs, collaborating with contemporaries such as Leanne & Naara, Clara Benin, and Al James, and numerous nominations from Wish Music Awards and Awit Awards.

From establishing a solid fanbase in the metro and online, they embarked on a journey across the country, playing music for jam-packed venues in partnership with Ayala Malls. The band’s Fallen Tour staged 10 shows in 9 major cities- Bacolod, Cagayan de Oro, Makati, Quezon City, Davao, Subic, Pampanga, and two shows in Cebu. The tour housed over 30K attendees, with Davao having the largest crowd of 11K people. “As much as we’re happy that we were able to gain a lot of fans throughout the pandemic, performing live in front of an audience is a different experience,” they state after seeing a downpour of supporters on their socials and live shows.

The band also surprised the fans with a new single in the middle of the tour. Entitled “dahan-dahan,” the new single is far from the upbeat track “Fallen”. The song is about two people who have fallen in and out of love multiple times. It’s familiar and anticipatory, all while feeling like the first time all over again. The song now boasts almost 335K streams on Spotify alone, with its lyric video on YouTube at 184K views. As they take in the success they’re having now, the band is inspired to work on new music for the upcoming year. “We blocked off almost our entire January so that we can finish as many songs as we can.” Lola Amour hopes that they can finally deliver a full-length album after years of promising this to their fans.

Seventeen local and international acts are slated to entertain live and online audiences, including Thai indie-pop, neo-soul singer-songwriter Phum Viphurit and Kpop act BugABoo, a six-member South Korean girl group, for whom the G Music Fest will be their first live Philippines performance. These limited edition illustrations combine quirky visual appeal with nuanced storytelling and will be launched in October.

Adding to the excitement, festival goers will also have the chance to own their first Non-Fungible Token (NFT) through Globe’s partnership with MetaverseGo!. The two brands have joined forces to create Gudi, a unique NFT in celebration of 917 #ExtraGDay and can be redeemed using Globe Rewards points.

Complementing the top-tier musical line-up and larger-than-life installations on the festival grounds is Globe Passion City where festival goers can use their Globe Rewards Points to enjoy fun & immersive Gaming (GGWP), Korean (Kmmunity Ph) and Anime (Sugoi Society) activities and merch collections.

Digital natives will also get to enjoy exciting activity booths and win vouchers from their favorite apps TikTok, Tinder, foodpanda, Kumu, and many others. Specially curated festival grub and pours, and exclusive 0917 merchandise are also available for guests to enjoy.

These are just some of the wonderful things one can expect at this year’s G Music Fest, and Globe still has a lot more surprises up its sleeve. Past performers include American pop rock band LANY, and proudly homegrown talents Kiana Valenciano, Ben & Ben, UDD, and SB19 among others.

Ayala Malls amps up Filipino music at ALive! feat. Zack Tabudlo, Arthur Nery, Nadine Lustre and more

Finally, concerts are back! This time, it’s not virtual—it’s face to face. The era of streaming from home is slowly drifting to be replaced by the way concerts have always been enjoyed by true-blue fans. Local artists are welcomed back on stage as Ayala Malls hosts a series of physical, mallwide concerts running all the way until June. The event, known as ALive!, spotlights rising and established artists including Zack Tabudlo, Arthur Nery, Adie, Sud, Nadine Lustre, and more.

ALive! artist breakdown
First on the lineup is the fast-rising singer-songwriter/producer, Zack Tabudlo, who’s set to play at Market! Market! on April 23 and Ayala Malls Manila Bay on April 24. The “Binibini” hitmaker under Island Records Philippines has been touring Ayala Malls since early March to serenade audiences with his latest hits like “Asan Ka Na Ba,” “Pano,” and other favorites from his breakout album, “Episode”.

Twenty-three year old Arthur Nery is sharing his jazzy, feel-good sound as he performs at Solenad on April 24; Fairview Terraces on May 8; Cloverleaf on May 13; Alabang Town Center on May 21; Ayala Malls Feliz on May 28; MarQuee Mall on June 4; and Harbor Point on August 6. The CDO-local, who is now under Viva Records, broke into the scene in 2019 after releasing his album, “Letters Never Sent.”

“While many artists became more known through digital platforms during the pandemic, nothing beats physical live performances in front of the crowd,” says Vic del Rosario, founder and chairman of Viva Entertainment, Inc.

Other Viva Records stars to grace the stage include Adie, the Biñan, Laguna native who quickly rose to fame with over 2 million monthly listeners on Spotify and over 67 million plays for his breakout hit, “Paraluman.” Fans can finally watch the wonderboy live at Solenad on April 23; MarQuee Mall on May 13; and Harbor Point on June 17. Meanwhile, mega-superstar Nadine Lustre will be at Market! Market! on April 24 for a one-time only concert. Fresh from Siargao, audiences can expect a mix of upbeat and soulful vibes from the “Wildest Dreams” singer.

As one once said, two is better than one! Audiences can catch two-in-one performances from Warner Music talents at Ayala Malls Manila Bay’s “Live at The Garden”. Playing onstage are modern rock-funk-pop, Lola Amour, and singing-songwriting girl-duo, Leanne & Naara on May 1; Boogie-fusion band, Basically Saturday Night, and rising star, Arthur Miguel, on May 8; and “Forever Alive” singer, Keiko Necesario, and indie rock/jazz fusion band, Sud, on May 14.

Finally, Happy Plays Music Festival features some of the country’s biggest names in music including the following main acts: Sandwich, 6cyclemind, Moonstar88, Imago, and Gracenote. Catch the group perform live at Market! Market! on April 30; Solenad on May 14; Ayala Malls Manila Bay on May 28; Alabang Town Center on June 4; Glorietta on June 11; and U.P. Town Center on July 22

“We thank Ayala Malls for giving artists and fans the opportunity to gather within a safe and comfortable space. Ayala Malls is the perfect venue for the comeback of face-to-face performances because of its controlled environment and convenient accessibility,” muses del Rosario.

“We want to continue creating amazing experiences for our patrons by bringing live entertainment back in our malls. This goes hand-in-hand with our goal to support Filipino music and local artists especially after all the lockdowns and quarantines we’ve been through,” says Tintin Enriquez-Yabao, Ayala Malls Consumer Marketing Head.
