JC Regino dedicates a self-composed song ‘Idolo’ to the supporters of the April Boys

Singer-songwriter JC Regino, the only son of hitmaker “Idol” April Boy Regino, collaborates with April Boy’s two brothers Vingo and Jimmy in releasing the latest single under GMA Music titled ‘Idolo.’

JC wrote the song six months after his father passed away, but he wasn’t able to finish it. Then after his birthday last year, he was missing his dad so much, and he remembered the song. That’s when everything came to him, and he was able to finish the song in September 2022.

According to JC, he wrote ‘Idolo’ to give thanks to his dad’s fans for the neverending love and support they’ve given and shown to the April Boys, that without them, there would have been no April Boys.  He feels that the fans/supporters deserve to have a song dedicated to them.

Tune in to JC Regino and the April Boys ‘Idolo’ which will be available on all digital streaming platforms worldwide on February 24.

Abby Clutario releases debut single ‘Tadhana’

Music pioneer and multi-instrumentalist indie musician Abby Clutario marks her musical debut under AltG Records through the release of her Chapman Stick revival of UDD’s ‘Tadhana.’

Abby became an official recording artist of AltG Records, a sub-label of GMA Music, last November 8. She is known in the music scene as an indie artist and the first one and one of two who can play a Chapman Stick, an electric instrument with approximately 10-12 strings in the Philippines.

She shared that picking ‘Tadhana’ as her first single was a collaborative decision with Artist and Repertoire Manager and In-house Producer Kedy Sanchez. She is grateful for the opportunity and is excited about releasing the song, “Very grateful ako at the same time very excited to be able to release a song thru a label like AltG Records. Being an independent artist for 20 years, I can say na marami na akong pinagdaanan na challenges ng isang musikero and now dahil sa AltG I can say na mas may chance ako na maiparinig at ma-share ang aking music sa mas maraming listeners.”

Abby also revealed the process in reviving the song, “Ang Chapman Stick ay isang napaka-versatile na instrument. Bukod sa kaya niyang bumagay sa kahit anong genre ng music, masasabi ko na very soothing ang kanyang tunog at sadyang babagay sa mga ballad na style katulad ng Tadhana. Nung inaareglo ko ang kanta para sa voice ng Chapman Stick, sinugurado ko lang na mas ma-highlight pa rin ang main melody ng kanta and ang Chapman Stick ang nagsisilbing support and accompaniment nito.”

She also admitted that it was challenging but is happy with the result, “Siguro ang pinaka-challenge is a personal one, which is how to give justice to this song na maganda na ang pagkakalikha to begin with. My version is a stripped-down version na tanging ‘yung voice and Chapman Stick lang ang maririnig. I’m happy na sinuggest ‘yun ni Sir Kedy kasi I really also like the song.”

Abby’s debut song was #5 on iTunes PH’s Top 100 Songs chart upon its release on January 20 and is included in Spotify’s Fresh Finds Philippines playlist.

Tune in to Abby Clutario’s ‘Tadhana’ on all digital streaming platforms worldwide.

Mcoy Fundales releases latest single ‘Ang Forever Ko’y Ikaw’

Kapuso singer-songwriter and the original vocalist of ‘Orange and Lemons’ Mcoy Fundales releases a new single “Ang Forever Ko’y Ikaw,” under AltG Records, a sublabel of GMA Music.

The song was earlier composed by Mcoy as a theme song for GMA’s romantic comedy series ‘Ang Forever Ko’y Ikaw’ in 2018. Back then, the song was made up of only one stanza and chorus. But after sometime, he decided to finish it. “I want to put another stanza, arrange and record it properly. Nandoon kasi ako sa point na naghahalughog ako ng mga unfinished song ko. I want to finish them for posterity and ito yung inuna ko,” Mcoy revealed.

‘Ang Forever Ko’y Ikaw,’ which is produced by Kedy Sanchez, A&R Manager of GMA Music, is about the serendipity of falling in love and instantly knowing that the person is meant for you.

Mcoy is ecstatic that his single is finally out this year, “I’m happy to release this song because this is close to my heart and I have been thinking of releasing this for quite some time now. This song could have been released probably a year ago if not for the pandemic.”

Aside from this, he is also planning to release an album, “So far I have already recorded two singles for AltG Records and I already have two more ready. An album is possible if I will be able to write, prepare and record around two more songs.”

Meanwhile, Mcoy is happy to be able to juggle being a songwriter and scriptwriter at the same time, “Writing for TV and movies is still my main focus now but music will always be with me. I can always write songs, either for myself or for another artist, or for projects. I am privileged to be able to record and release singles for AltG Records.”

At present, he is one of the writers of ‘Pepito Manaloto,’ ‘Bubble Gang,’ and ‘All-Out Sundays.’

Barangay LS 97.1’s Papa Obet unveils “Papa Obet Sessions EP”

Barangay LS 97.1 disc jock Papa Obet is now officially a recording artist as he releases “Papa Obet Sessions” EP under GMA Music today, December 10, on-air and on digital streaming platforms worldwide.

Containing four tracks: “Ikaw Lang At Ako,” (composed and originally performed by Janno Gibbs), “Kung Mababalik Ko Lang,” by 604, “Kung Malaya Lang Ako,” by Kris Lawrence and Papa Obet’s original composition “Ang Una Kong Pasko,” this EP is a dream come true for him who shared during his interview that the ambition written in his high school yearbook was “to be a successful recording artist.”

“The EP was inspired by the Spotlight Music Sessions, an online music channel which showcases the talent of Pinoy artists through live performances,” he says.

“Ang Una Kong Pasko” is dedicated to the OFWs who are spending their Christmas away from their loved ones. “It was inspired by my experience when I had to spend Christmas on my own for the first time. And I dedicate this to the OFWs who are miles away from their families and are celebrating Christmas far from home for the first time,” shares Papa Obet.

Before becoming a Barangay LS disc jock, Papa Obet used to join various singing contests including GMA’s talent competition Protégé. He is also the songwriter behind Barangay LS’ theme song “Tayo Ay Forever” sang by Kapuso artists Ken Chan and Rita Daniela.

“I still can’t believe that my singing career could actually get this far. I’ve always wanted to be a radio DJ, but I’ve been singing since I was a child. I would join singing contests in Bataan and sometimes win. Then, I became a DJ here at Barangay LS and I’ve been here for 10 years. And now, GMA Music has given me an opportunity to be an official and legit recording artist and it has been really fun working with them,” says Papa Obet.

Papa Obet Sessions EP is now available for streaming on iTunes, Apple Music, Spotify, and other digital music streaming services worldwide.

Fall in love over and over again with Princess Velasco’s ‘Ang Ating Pag-ibig’

A relationship that can weather every storm is every couple’s dream and promise to their significant other.

For OPM Acoustic Princess and Kapuso singer Princess Velasco, this vow is immortalized in her latest single under GMA Music, ‘Ang Ating Pag-ibig,’ released today, November 19.

Written by her husband Mark Herbert Rosario in 2013 as a gift on their wedding day, Princess felt the need that the message of the song is worth sharing to the world, whether you’re a couple in love or an individual feeling the love from family and friends.

“The song was written by my husband in 2013. The first and only time it was performed in public was during our wedding. It was his surprise to me. Una ko siyang narinig nung wedding reception namin. The song is not just about us. It’s about love. It’s about finding the person you’ve been praying for, waiting for, and the promise to stay with that person despite anything that the world or universe throws your way,” says Princess.

Princess also explained that her contribution to the song is the second verse. It was her answer to her husband’s words and melody.

“Parang sinagot ko lang ang words niya. Before I presented it to GMA Music, I recorded it with my guitar and sent it to him and sobra siyang natuwa. I’m sure a lot of people can relate to it kasi ‘pag nahanap mo ang ganung klaseng pag-ibig and kapag pinakasalan mo ang tao na ‘yun and the commitment is there, you can weather any storm and I want to share that with others,” she says.

Filled with melodies of love, the song takes Princess back to her wedding day when she was standing by the church door ready to walk the aisle and marry her husband.

“Naalala ko ang moment na nasa labas ako ng pintuan ng simbahan tapos hindi ako makahinga and kinakabahan ako. Ganun ang nafi-feel ng bride, excited ka na kinakabahan na hindi mo maintindihan. It’s a day I will never forget. It’s one of the best days of my life. Hindi perfect ang marriage namin and I am really thankful to God na because of our love and our commitment, we now have three beautiful children,” says Princess who is a wonderful mother to Kobe, Milo, and Sari.

Princess considers “Ang Ating Pag-ibig” as not just a song for your husband or your wife but a song for your loved one, whether it’s your child, your parents, or your friend.

“Ang Ating Pag-ibig” is now available on Spotify, YouTube Music, Apple Music, and other digital stores worldwide.
