NIKI announces NICOLE World Tour 2023, includes MOA Arena show on Sept. 13

Today, Jakarta-born, LA-based singer-songwriter, and producer NIKI announces her upcoming “Nicole World Tour” this summer and fall. To coincide with this announcement, NIKI also unveils the music video for fan favorite track “Backburner” and releases her new live album Live at the Wiltern, out now via 88rising.

Following her sold-out North American headlining tour last fall, NIKI is bringing her live show to cities across the globe with her 2023 world tour which will span across North America, Asia, and Europe. The run also includes performances at festivals including Head in the Clouds NYC, Lollapalooza, and Outside Lands. Tickets will be on sale to the public on Thursday, May 18th at 10AM local time, following local presales on May 16th and 17th. The full list of dates is below; please visit https://nikizefanya.com/ for more information.

Directed by Isaac Ravishankara, the new music video for NIKI’s fan favorite track “Backburner” is deliberate and intimate. NIKI takes viewers into her world as she watches old footage recorded on her camcorder and re-lives fond memories of a past relationship. Watch the “Backburner” music video HERE.

NIKI’s first ever live album Live at the Wiltern features live recordings performed at the final show of NIKI’s sold-out headlining tour at the Los Angeles venue last October. The live album includes performances of tracks from her sophomore album Nicole as well as previous standout songs including “Lowkey,” “Every Summertime,” and more.

Last summer, NIKI released her sophomore album Nicole, a project that sees her where she shines, returning to her singer-songwriter roots in a carefully crafted coming-of-age juncture that sees present-day NIKI meet with her teenage self. The album was released to critical acclaim by the likes of NPR, Billboard, Vanity Fair, and V Magazine, who hailed Nicole as “NIKI’s piece-de-resistance that kicks off an exceptional new chapter for the burgeoning songstress.”

Following the release of Nicole, NIKI also made her acting debut in her short film But I’m Letting Go. The film is a moving retelling of her first love story and heartbreak and expands upon the story previously seen in the music videos for her songs “High School in Jakarta,” “Oceans & Engines,” and “Before,” allowing viewers to gain an even deeper insight into NIKI’s personal story during her teenage years in Jakarta.

NIKI has had an impressive career thus far, amassing over 2.1 billion streams worldwide and opening for Taylor Swift on tour when she was just 15. In addition to performing at Coachella and embarking on her headlining North American tour last fall, she has also performed at 88rising’s Head in the Clouds Festival in Los Angeles, Manila, and Jakarta, and is set to perform at Head in the Clouds in New York City later this month.

Since its widely-acclaimed debut in the US back in 2018, 88rising’s Head In The Clouds festival has emerged as one of the most anticipated annual events for fans of both music and the arts. The festival is unique in the sense that it specifically specializes on Asian music and culture from all around the around. No surprise it was eventually hailed as the “Asian Coachella.”

Every staging of Head In The Clouds, has in fact, received unanimous praise. In 2018, the very first HITC festival was hailed by The Bull’s Eye as “an unforgettable experience…one of the best musical events” of the year. Reviewing in 2019, the Los Angeles Times High School Insider noted that “the festival, which isn’t just about music, more garnered 25,000 people — more than double the amount” of the previous year.
In 2021, a year after the Covid-19 pandemic broke out, Uproxx hailed Head In The Clouds as “Los Angeles’ next great music festival while just recently, Concert Updater said the festival, “simply lived up to the hype.” “Everything from the music, the food, the crowd, and the overall experience was absolute perfection,” the site further posted in its review of the festival that took place at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California last August.

Filipino fans will now get the chance to experience what everyone else in the US was raving about. This year, Head In The Clouds is expanding its horizons and taking all its euphoria to Southeast Asia with two separate dates in Jakarta and Manila happening this December.

NIKI unveiled her latest album “Nicole” in August, which sees her returning to her singer-songwriter roots in a carefully crafted coming-of-age juncture that sees present-day NIKI meet with her teenage self. The album contains archived songs from NIKI’s past that have been re-imagined for the album, in addition to a number of brand-new tracks. Throughout the 12 songs on the project, NIKI uses her innate and detailed storytelling abilities to expertly explore themes of love, heartbreak, and every emotion in between.

On the release of Nicole, NIKI shares “During the pandemic, I did a deep dive of the archived videos from the YouTube channel I started in middle school and realized that these songs are where my heart is. We made most of the songs in my collaborators’ garages and living rooms, and the whole process felt so carefree and energizing, like being a kid at the playground. With this record, I learned to trust my gut and have real confidence in myself as a songwriter and producer, and it was so freeing and so much more fun.”

Fully written by NIKI, Nicole features production from Jacob Ray (Alison Wonderland, Evan Giia), Tim Anderson (Halsey, BANKS), Ethan Gruska (Phoebe Bridgers, Remi Wolf), and Jacob Reske (Vince Staples, Trippie Redd), with additional production from NIKI.

Her most recently released “High School in Jakarta” has already amassed over 45 million streams. The track’s music video surpassed 15 million views since its release, becoming NIKI’s fastest video to ever reach this milestone. “High School in Jakarta” follows previous single “Oceans & Engines,” a heart-wrenching ballad on surrendering to a broken relationship that serves as an impassioned moment of clarity and demonstrates NIKI’s songwriting ability. NIKI first announced Nicole with the release of lead single “Before,” a reflective nostalgia-tinged record that upon release, received acclaim from NME, UPROXX, and Teen Vogue who praised that the record “perfectly highlights NIKI’s songwriting prowess.” All three tracks appear on Nicole. Stream/download Nicole HERE.

In April this year, NIKI became the first Indonesian artist to ever perform at Coachella, alongside Rich Brian. NIKI will follow up her Coachella appearance with a performance at 88rising’s 2022 Head in the Clouds Festivals in Jakarta and Manila. NIKI previously headlined at the 2021 Head in the Clouds Festival last November with a striking set that received acclaim from MTV, Flaunt, and The AV Club who hailed her a “goddamn superstar.” Watch her full performance at the festival HERE.

To date, NIKI has accumulated over 1.8 billion streams across all platforms. Her hit single “Every Summertime” from the soundtrack of Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings went viral earlier this year, reaching Spotify’s Today’s Top Hits and currently has over 220 million streams and climbing. The track, written and produced by NIKI and longtime collaborator Jacob Ray – is an exuberant love song with a throwback sound reminiscent of classic R&B and soul. Stream the track HERE.

Ylona Garcia releases new summertime jam “Vibin” this May 27

Filipino-Australian singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Ylona Garcia reveals a more vulnerable playful side to her with the release of “Vibin” via PARADISE RISING/88rising Music. With a smooth and catchy hook, and a light, airy production matched with Ylona’s crisp vocals, the track is a perfect summertime slow jam.

“Vibin is a really special song to me,” Ylona said, “because it truly captures where I am artistically, and where I plan to go sonically. The track is about meeting someone new and not wanting to feel pressured to define the relationship – we’re just vibin and enjoying every moment as they come.”

“Vibin” follows the success of her hit single “Entertain Me,” which was featured in the wildly popular game Valorant’s launch trailer of new playable character Neon, reaching #1 Trending on YouTube and amassing over 8M views. The single currently has over 15M plays on Spotify alone.

At only 20 years old, Ylona Garcia has set her sights on the global landscape in the next stage of her creative journey. With multiple song releases under her belt already, in addition to appearing on two of the biggest reality/talent contests shows in the Philippines, Ylona Garcia has become one of the fastest-rising, most prominent young voices in the Filipino music community. She currently has over 4.2M followers on Instagram and nearly 1 million followers on TikTok in addition to over 714,000 monthly listeners on Spotify and 212,000 subscribers on her YouTube channel.

Ylona Garcia’s music is released by 88rising’s sister label PARADISE RISING, which was launched in 2020 to help bring Filipino music to the forefront of culture.

Dynamic 88rising South Korean artist, Seori, releases her new single “Can’t Stop This Party”

Rising South Korean artist Seori will be releasing her forthcoming 5th digital single, “Can’t Stop This Party” on March 22nd at 12AM ET for a global facing release with ATISPAUS and 88rising. She will also be holding her first international online press showcase the same evening, on March 22nd at 8:00PM KST featuring a live performance and artist Q&A with worldwide press and fans in attendance.

The new all-English song is a hypnotizing, moody pop and R&B track written by Seori and globally acclaimed writers Chloe Angelides, Joseph Bryn Kearns, Treyshun Campbell. Produced by Joseph Kearns, the song features Seori’s gentle but charismatic vocals over a piano intro that seamlessly blends into a melancholy, lo-fi beat. The song describes the theme of a never-ending party- which stereotypically would be associated with an up-tempo rhythm and high energy- but instead cheekily slows the beat down in a charming and unique way that creates a new, fresh feeling for the audience.

Like a never-ending network, the song lyrics describe her feeling trapped with frustration and stress from an almost-lover who couldn’t return her feelings. She describes feeling hurt and betrayed by a loved one and is overwhelmed with bitterness with the past.

To escape the heartbreak, she finally breaks free by exploring a party she does not want to leave. She sings about running away from painful past memories that haunt her, so far that she metaphorically feels that she is on another planet. Though she is getting the relief she needs, her distortion of reality is blurred and distorted by the spiraling party. By focusing less on the past and not worrying about the future, she discovers cathartic relief by letting go of her bitter emotions and dancing her feelings away in the present moment.

Like taking a breath of air after feeling suffocated, the song will allow listeners to escape the everyday stresses to another world through her healing music.

VEVO named her as the only South Korean artist for their DSCR Artists to watch in 2022, while NME awarded her as one of the Emerging Artists to Watch for 2022. Seori was the first female Korean artist to perform on Grammy’s Global Spin series.

Seori is featured on the track “Warriors“ with Warren Hue for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings: The Album, executive produced by 88rising. She also made her debut stage performance at 88rising’s “Head in the Clouds” Los Angeles Music & Arts Festival last year in front of 30,000+ in-person audience with thousands more watching from the livestream- leaving a lasting impression for fans all around the world.

“Can’t Stop this Party” will be released through 88rising on March 22nd and available on Spotify, Apple Music, and other music platforms around the world. The music video to follow on Seori’s and 88rising’s official YouTube channel.
