Dru Chen takes us higher with R&B track, ‘Eiffel Tower’

Conjuring enchanting visions of Paris, France with its idyllic coffee shops & dreamy fashion, the R&B track is a special piece about laying one’s heart on the line for something which is never quite guaranteed. “It was written during a time of intense vulnerability, when life and love went through tumultuous ups and downs,” shares Dru.

Eiffel Tower was jointly written by Joel Tan of Gentle Bones and Dru Chen, and solely produced by Dru. Starting off slow and steady, the verses are quiet and intimate, a contrast to the bustling, explosive chorus that makes us feel like we’re in celebration of love, especially with Dru singing, “Pray you don’t let me go / ‘Cause who’s gonna catch me / When I fall for you”. The song speaks straight to the heart – encouraging us to let down our guard and let a lover or, l’amoreux, into our lives.

With the country still in a pandemic and our hopes of traveling dashed, Eiffel Tower also aims to transport its audience to its namesake and impart that high, giddy feeling you get when experiencing happy moments with a loved one. Eiffel Tower is about exploring relationships – whether romantic, platonic or familial, it ultimately displays the “intimacy of a lifetime of human connection”. It is about discovering the world through new lenses and constantly pushing one another to be better.

The song opens with the hook, “It’s all because of your love” and is peppered throughout the rest of the song – in varying degrees of emotion and melody. We also hear a satisfying electric guitar riff in the bridge, representing a culmination of the Pop/R&B track’s wonder and whimsy in this warm feeling we call love. Eiffel Tower shows maturity in both its production and lyrics – inspiring audiences to help each other pursue their dreams instead of tearing them down. “We can choose to come out stronger, more invigorated, and more alive than ever,” Dru observes, “That is the ultimate human experience.”

Olivia Rodrigo’s debut album, Sour — out now!

Multi-platinum, critically acclaimed singer/songwriter, Olivia Rodrigo, today released her highly anticipated debut album, SOUR, via Geffen Records. All throughout the LP, the 18-year-old musician displays her incredible talent for capturing complex emotions in high-impact, dynamic pop songs. The album, entirely co-written by Rodrigo, embodies a minimalist yet mesmerizing form of alt-pop, each song centered on the L.A.-based artist’s beautifully detailed storytelling, unforgettably original narrative voice, and undeniable boldness. SOUR is available to stream or download HERE.

For Rodrigo, one of the greatest joys in life comes from deliberately tapping into her deepest heartache. “There’s nothing like sitting at the piano in my bedroom and writing a really sad song,” she says. “It’s truly my favorite thing in the world; it’s so inspiring to see my music affect people and maybe help them to feel less alone too.”

“I’m also fascinated by the idea of a relationship going sour—how a person you loved so much and told all your secrets to can become the person you can’t stand,” Rodrigo explains about the album’s title. “For me, the goal of all music is to take these complicated feelings and externalize them in a way that makes people feel seen.”

On January 8, 2021, the arrival of Rodrigo’s record-breaking, triple-platinum, debut single, “drivers license,” revealed the tremendous power of her raw self-expression—and ultimately cemented her status as the most promising young artist to emerge this year. The song premiered at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, holding the top spot for eight consecutive weeks and becoming the first in 2021 to hit one billion total global streams. “drivers license” is also the first this year to be RIAA certified at Gold, Platinum, double and triple-Platinum, not to mention scoring the No. 1 spot at Top 40 radio for five consecutive weeks and having the quickest trip to the top spot for a first-time charting female artist.

On April 1, 2021, Rodrigo made music industry history again with the release of her incredible sophomore single, “deja vu” – becoming the first artist to debut her first two proper singles in the top ten of the Billboard Hot 100. On May 14, 2021, Rodrigo also shared the third-released track from SOUR, “good 4 u,” which has already amassed 70 million global audio streams and 40 million global video streams in its first week. She also performed the new song during her musical guest debut on Saturday Night Live on May 15, which Billboard praised, saying “Olivia Rodrigo crushed it during her SNL debut.”

Patty Tiu and Owen Greyson Explore the Depths of Despair with Hanggang Kailan

For her debut release for O/C Records, songwriter, DJ, and producer Patty Tiu takes quite a detour from her usual progressive, powerful routine and goes to slow, brooding territory for her feature with Owen Greyson with Hanggang Kailan, made available on digital platforms for listening on May 21, 2021.

This isn’t your dance floor, power track with hard hitting beats that you will get wasted to while wriggling yourself away til the early morning hours. This song pretty much screams of loneliness and endless despair, tackling it in the most subdued and appropriate way possible. While some hints of Patty Tiu’s production are still there, the low humdrums and the melancholic tones are still the dominant force of this track, which is only further reinforced by Owen Greyson’s deep and subdued vocals.

While it may not be her usual power affair, it doesn’t mean that it skimps on having power talent on board. Both Patty and Owen composed this track of despair, with the former also acting as its producer and arranger and the latter doing recording engineering duties with Mark Thompson, who also acted as the tracks co-producer and mixing and mastering engineer.

Hanggang Kailan by Patty Tiu featuring Owen Greyson is now available on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and other leading streaming platforms for those whose days have been nothing but an endless loop of loneliness and despair.

Sam Fischer shares new track ‘Simple’

Fresh off the back of his duet with Demi Lovato on ‘What Other People Say’ and his hit single ‘This City’ comes fan track ‘Simple’ – an ode to overcoming difficulties in relationships to bring it back to simpler times.

He said: “I wrote this song through one of my lower points of the last year, but it’s one of my favourite songs. Relationships have their struggles, even in normal times – and this year has been anything but normal. It’s hard to be there for someone when you’re struggling to be there for yourself. I’m grateful to be with an amazing woman who is willing to fight through the hard times to get back to the simple love that started everything.”

Sam’s debut single ‘This City’ is currently sitting on over 500 million worldwide streams and was Top 20 in the UK for 11 weeks. The track has gone double platinum in Australia, platinum in the UK and Gold in the US, New Zealand and Switzerland. He’s also had some incredible US TV performances on Ellen, Jimmy Kimmel and The Late Late Show With James Corden.

Australian born Sam Fischer first introduced himself with his Not A Hobby EP and has garnered incredible attention through his soulful voice and heartfelt lyrics. Touring North America with his friend Lewis Capaldi, he wowed crowds with his buoyant personality and pure love and talent for song-writing. Now based in LA, he not only has received acclaim for his own work, but he continues to solidify his spot as one of the hottest current writers, having worked with global pop superstars including Ciara, Lennon Stella, Louis Tomlinson, Elle King, Jessie J, Virginia To Vegas and many more.

However, it hasn’t all been plain sailing for Sam, who endured his own heartache to achieve his dreams. With the promise of a recording contract in the bag, he set off to LA only for the deal to be pulled away. After months of couch-surfing, he finally and deservedly received his break with This City and project Homework which has been just the amazing start of an exciting new chapter in Sam’s career.

Joe Vince offers comfort & tranquility amidst the chaos with his latest single “Hilik”

As the old adage goes, “necessity is the mother of invention,” but in the case of rising singer/songwriter Joe Vince, music has always been such a driving force in his life, that it’s both evolution and re-invention that has kept him on his toes, and has him continually producing sure-fire singles that resonate with so many listeners who have a penchant for both honest lyricism and arresting melodies.

And he’s about to do it again this 2021, with his latest single “Hilik,” now available on all major digital music platforms and streaming services.

Melodically soaring and characteristically well-crafted and arranged, Joe Vince finds himself taking a different approach – in contrast to his previous R&B sensibilities – by leaning towards his strengths and talent for both delicate phrases and enchanting harmonies, and his current admiration for folk-sounding music.

“I wanted to be focused on telling a story, as opposed to just producing a song that would highlight vocal melodies,” shared Joe Vince, as he admitted that the project was his way of breaking into new ground, after being inspired by local Filipino folk artists like Johnoy Danao and Noel Cabangon a few years back in 2017. “When I was writing the song, there was also an attempt to structure chords in a way that they alone could convey emotions, instead of having the vocals do that,” he added, acknowledging the departure from his trademark, falsetto-laden singles he released previously.

When asked about the lyrical inspiration for the song, Joe Vince – a native Cebuano – shared: “I wrote it for someone I met online, who I talked-to for hours, and really connected-with…” he starts and continues: “she actually fell asleep… and I could hear her gently snoring on the other end of the line, and I felt it was because there was this overwhelming sense of comfort [we both felt] of not being alone… it was such a strong feeling, that I wrote this song in six hours and gave it to her. It’s as raw and emotional as it was when I wrote it, and I didn’t change much when I formally recorded it, so I’m pretty happy with how it turned-out,” he finishes.

And now listeners can experience that same powerful connection and enjoy the soothing single, and hopefully, find it to be the perfect lullaby that’ll offer both comfort and a much-needed sense of peace.

“Hilik” is available for streaming on Spotify, YouTube Music, Apple Music, Deezer and other digital music platforms.
