10 Silverstein and Saosin Tracks That Will Summon The Elder Emo In You

Concert promoter PULP Live will bring two post-hardcore classics Saosin and Silverstein live in Manila. Both will be happening at SkyDome on two separate dates.

Silverstein will be performing live on Halloween, October 31. Gates will open at 6 PM, while the intensive emo nostalgia will commence at 8 PM.

Silverstein’s show in Manila Ticket prices range from P5500 for ROYALTY (that comes with Photo Meet & Greet and Priority Entrance), P4000 for VIP, and P3000 for General Admission.

Saosin on the other hand will be chugging their symphonies on November 3 and 4 at 8 PM. Ticket prices for their shows range from P3500 for VIP, and P2500 for General Admission. The staple emotive post-hardcore band will be fronted by Thai alternative metal band Defying Decay.

That being said, we have decided to create a quick refresher to unleash the same old emo kid trapped inside an adult body just like you.

It’s Far Better To Learn

Your Sword Versus My Dagger

Just, imagine moshing with a crowd of Silverstein fans while this song is playing.

Bury Your Head

Smile In Your Sleep

Voices

Smash Into Pieces

This became an emo anthem, it was even performed by one of the contestants of the show American Idol.

Call It Karma

This might be the softest song in the list but you know deep inside that this hits home really hard.

Sleepers

My Heroine

Seven Years

If you don’t even know what this is, we don’t even know what kind of ‘emo’ music you are listening to.

David Pomeranz coming back to Manila for his 40th Anniversary concert

If there’s one musical performer who’s without a doubt widely known and loved in the Philippines, that would be DAVID POMERANZ. David’s songs were already popular back in the 80’s with hit songs like, GOT TO BELIEVE IN MAGIC, KING AND QUEEN OF HEARTS, OLD SONGS, IF YOU WALKED AWAY and TRYING TO GET THAT FEELING AGAIN. The
popularity of these songs kept David Pomeranz in the conscious psyche of Filipino audiences all over the world and these songs eventually paved the way for David’s impending further success when, in 1999, his Multi-Platinum Award-winning, “BORN FOR YOU” album was released and
became the largest selling International Pop album in the history of The Philippines.

Numerous concert performances and TV appearances then followed and, in 2001, his “ON THIS DAY” album was released with the hit title track becoming an iconic wedding standard. And the rest, as they say, is history. Not a day goes by that a David Pomeranz song isn’t played on Philippine radio and it’s a testament to his enduring musical legacy that will stay with generations of Filipinos for as long as his music is played on Radio, Television, the Internet, Karaoke bars and everywhere else in the Philippines and around the world.

This December 8, 2023, 8PM, at the Newport Performing Arts Theater, come celebrate with David at his 40th Anniversary “Coming Home” ConcertTour with his Special Guest, Vina Morales and Front Acts, Elisha and Andrea Gutierrez.

Gloc-9, Ramdiss and Hero releases highly anticipated Spotify Single “Umaga”

Manila flow masters Gloc-9, Ramdiss, and Hero have joined forces for their newest Spotify Singles track, “Umaga.” This track is part of KALYE X — Spotify’s initiative that spotlights Pinoy hip-hop through meaningful collaborations with artists and communities.

“Umaga”, the final track of the three first-ever original Filipino hip-hop Spotify Single, packs a punch with its unapologetic message on embracing your individuality. It’s a raw and fearless anthem, encouraging listeners to break free from society’s expectations.

Iba’t-ibang daan, isang tagpuan

Gloc-9, Hero and Ramdiss, each hailing from diverse backgrounds, have come together for KALYE X to create “Umaga”.

Gloc-9, hip-hop OG, brings his extensive experience in storytelling through music. “I love writing songs about real stories and struggles of people, and being able to capture what we go through every day. As an artist, I want my music to resonate with everyone, hip-hop fan or not. That is why I take pride in creating songs that tell people’s stories like what we did here for our Spotify Single, Umaga,” he said.

Ramdiss draws inspiration from his personal experiences, creating music that resonates with his fans through his raw and genuine sentiments. He proudly acknowledges the legacy of rap legends who paved the way for his generation, saying, “I take pride in the lessons I’ve learned from those who laid the foundation for rap music in the Philippines. At tulad ng dati, ay patuloy akong magiging alagad ng rap at habambuhay akong makikibaka para sa kapakanan ng lirisismo at sining.”

Hero views music not only as an art form but also as a means of inspiration. His journey began when he discovered his love for music at the age of 15. He reflects, “As much as I love creating music, I also love seeing people get inspired by my songs. I’m grateful that Spotify helps artists like us reach a wider audience, enable collaborations with great talents, and open new doors,” Hero shared. “Wala akong hinangad kundi gumawa nang gumawa ng awitin at hindi ko naman inaasahan na dito ako dadalhin ng bagay na minahal kong gawin.” he added.

KALYE X ends strong in Manila!

Bringing the epic concert series — from Cebu to Davao — now to the grand finale, KALYE X Manila, held at the Globe Circuit Event Grounds, was a night of the sleekest Pinoy hip-hop beats. In an exclusive partnership with Wish 107.5, KALYE X Manila headliners Gloc-9, Ramdiss, and Hero treated fans with a Wishclusive performance of “Umaga”.

The crowd roared as the headliners took over the concert stage. Ramdiss showcased a heart-thumping performance with his tracks including “Underdawg” and “Buod.” Hero treated the audience to his hits like “Sumpa” and “Ipakita Mo,” Finally, Gloc-9 stepped on the stage, prompting the entire audience to sing along to his greatest songs including, “Upuan,” “Sumayaw Ka,” “Simpleng Tao” and more. The three artists then punctuated the night as they performed Umaga — live for the first time!

“We are thrilled to have been on this journey with our Filipino hip-hop artists — from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. Our commitment to spotlighting their craft, providing unparalleled opportunities and fueling Pinoy pride is year round,” shares Kossy Ng, Spotify Asia’s Head of Music. “We’re just getting started, and there’s much more to come from Spotify in bringing the best of Filipino music and culture.”

Spotify unveiled its KALYE X artists from Cebu, Davao, and Manila on the New York Times Square billboard — marking a significant milestone for Pinoy hip-hop on the international stage.

The night also included an intense KALYE City Xypher with a 16-bar challenge hosted by Rekta Sa Kalye, delivering the most impressive verses and playful rhymes. The crowd was also treated to Hev Abi’s remarkable performances of “WELCOME2DTQ”, and “Para Sa Streets”, while the trio of O SIDE OF MAFIA also wowed the crows with their hit tracks “SMD”, “CRASHING”, and “20 Deep”. There was also a visual showcase of the vibrant Manila street life by talented local artist Trip63.

Listen to “Umaga” now, and follow the Kalye Hip-Hop playlist, where you can press play on two more original Spotify Singles: “Wa Na Wa” by Midnasty and Cookie$, and “Kendeng” by Morobeats. For more of KALYE X, follow @SpotifyPH on all social media platforms

Glorious return of the one and only, Sam Smith

English singer and songwriter Sam Smith returned to Manila, bringing their Gloria tour last to the Mall of Asia Arena last Oct. 21. As Sam Smith mentioned on stage, this show is about freedom, expressing one’s true nature and self. They performed emotional ballads such as “Stay with Me,” “I’m Not the Only One,” “Like I Can,” and “Too Good at Goodbyes,” and it felt like nostalgia.

The concert had three acts: Love, Beauty, and Sex. As the Love act started, Filipino fans were already feeling pumped and hyped. Sam Smith greeted them by saying, “It’s so beautiful to be back with you. I will never take for granted your love, Manila.” They also performed “Perfect,” “To Die For,” “How Do You Sleep?” and ending the act with “Dancing With a Stranger.”

As the Beauty act began, Sam Smith asked the fans to stand up, jump, and dance along with them. The act’s set included “Lay Me Down,” “Promises,” “Latch,” “I’m Not Here to Make Friends,” and “I Feel Love.” Sam Smith wore extravagant dresses with each song, showing different works of art.

Sam Smith closed the show with a glorious and flashy performance of “Gloria,” as well as a cover of a Madonna’s “Human Nature.” They wrapped the show with “Unholy.” It was truly an unforgettable night of soulful music and heartfelt performances.

Both rockstars in their own right, they have been dominating the country’s premier entertainment destination, headlining successful concerts and shows over the years. In 2021, she further found herself catapulted to stardom, with the livestream performances of their band going viral. Lesha’s ‘GO TO HELL!!!’ – A Soundtrack for Toxic Love

Today’s generation rising rockstar and fearless singer/songwriter Lesha is gearing up to rock your Halloween celebrations with the launch of her latest single entitled ‘”GO TO HELL!!!”’ A song that exudes the iconic pop-punk feel–fusing together defiance, heartache and the empowering realization of self-discovery.

“I wrote this song over the summer. This one basically dives into all the messy vibes of a toxic relationship. The lyrics capture the gut-punch of being let down by someone who couldn’t make up their mind,” Lesha shares.

“GO TO HELL!!!” was written over the summer locally with L.A. based producer Dela and songwriter Krizia. As Lesha is best known for writing songs straight from her own experiences, you can be assured that this song is gonna make it big among her Gen Z followers.

Lesha continues, “I normally write based on true experiences, and at the studio I was expressing the hardships I went through in my toxic relationship so we figured to pour out all my intrusive/unfiltered thoughts into this song.”

It seems like there’s no stopping Lesha from making reality awakening songs that can foretell situations that some of us can best relate to. Before you know it, she has already tapped that innate energy among us to recharge us and be prepared in conquering our worst fears.

And her favorite lines go like this, “Go on and tell your story…Admit you did me dirty…Brought out the worst in me…Cause you knew me too well…Lost trust in everybody…Don’t say you did it for me…You killed the best of me…I’ll see you in hell”

She explains, “My favorite lyrics are in the bridge of the song because of the angst and resentment it expresses from losing trust in someone (which is the entire gist of the song). It kinda reminds me of the saying “hurt people, hurt people”. No matter how good you’ve been to a person, if they’re not at peace with themselves they will endlessly find ways to share their pain with you or dump all their negative energy/traumas on you to disrupt your peace.”

Surely, this song will appeal to everyone who went through the same experience as her. But then again beneath those messages, she wants to impart a greater meaning behind the lyrics. Honesty in all aspects whether it be songwriting or in her personal pursuits.

“It was really fun writing and tracking the vocals cause it involved a lot of honesty, angst, and of course high energy screaming which really helped ease my frustration; at the same time the verses tapped into my more vulnerable side and this song was able to fully articulate the feelings I had trapped in my head, translating it into a heavy contrast between the chorus and the verses.”

“GO TO HELL!!!” streams on Lesha’s Spotify starting October 27, 2023. Check out other social media platforms– Instagram, Facebook, and Tiktok for more updates.

The Corrs Live in Manila: There’s Nothing Like The Corrs and Their Filipino Fans

Twenty-two years is a long time. Just ask the Filipino fans of Irish band The Corrs. So when it was announced in March that the Corr siblings would finally come back to Manila after 22 years, the anticipation began. Fast-forward to October, and The Corrs’ fans flocked to the Araneta Coliseum on Oct. 21 and 22, ready to sing their hearts out and give all the love in the world to the band that’s been a constant in their lives for decades.

Pop-rock sister band Germein opened the night, and the Australian group played their songs “Talking,” “Good for a Girl,” and “Suitcase,” their recent single.

I had goosebumps when Caroline then appeared on stage and played the drums that introduced their opening song, “Only When I Sleep.” The curtains fell and Andrea danced her way to the mic before she sang, and the crowd was immediately under her spell. The Corrs then performed “Give Me a Reason” and “Summer Sunshine.”

“Mabuhay, Manila! Magandang gabi. Masaya kaming makabalik dito,” Andrea greeted the crowd during the first show that weekend. She also said the band really wanted to come back and that their 2001 concert, which was also held in Araneta, was unforgettable.

“There’s a lot of bad times in the world these days, but this is not one of them. Let’s have an amazing night tonight and share the love. Thank you! Salamat!”

The Corrs played instrumental “Lough Erin Shore,” and it was exhilarating seeing each sibling’s talent on display. It then transitioned into “Forgiven, Not Forgotten.” Another infectious song included in the set is “What Can I Do,” and the crowd sang a couple of lines during the chorus. After hearing the fans sing, Andrea said, “You’re amazing!”
They also covered Fleetwood Mac’s “Little Lies,” and Andrea introduced it as a tribute to Christine McVie, the late keyboardist and co-vocalist of the iconic rock band. The Corrs performed “Dreams” as well, another Fleetwood Mac original.

A couple of songs that they also covered that night were The Jimi Hendrix Experience’s ‘”Little Wing” and Jimmy McCarthy’s “No Frontiers,” with Sharon and Caroline as lead vocals.

The Corrs performed their other hits, such as “Don’t Say You Love Me,” “Radio,” and “Queen of Hollywood.” They also paid homage to their roots as the band played traditional instrumental songs: “Joy of Life / Trout in the Bath” and “Haste to the Wedding.”

One of the highlights of the set for me was “Ellis Island,” which Andrea said is very relevant today. Their harmonies gave me goosebumps. You get the feeling that this is a song that’s close to their hearts especially because the band is also known for their philanthropy.
“So Young” and “I Never Loved You Anyway” wrapped The Corrs’ set, with the Manila choir providing additional vocals, and the band was further fueled by the crowd participation.

The fans wanted more and shouted for an encore, and the coliseum shook as everyone stomped their feet.

The Corrs took the stage again, and before introducing the band, Andrea said she was a bit overwhelmed, clearly emotionally moved by their fans.
“Say it’s true; there’s nothing like me and you.” That line is simply nostalgic and unearthed memories that we associate with “Runaway.” Andrea was emotional as she let the crowd sing the chorus. She removed her in-ears and just listened to the crowd.

Cheers also erupted when The Corrs started performing “Breathless,” and Irish traditional folk tune “Toss the Feathers” was the last song of the band’s encore.

The Corrs played two sold out shows that weekend and performed hit after hit for thousands of their Filipino fans. We heard the sound, harmonies, lyrics, and Andrea’s distinct voice that we’ve all listened to countless times, and watching The Corrs perform from their first song to their last was such a thrill. After the confetti has fallen and the show has wrapped, our memories of The Corrs’ undeniable talent and grace coupled with their timeless hits can still leave us breathless.
