Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) celebrates 10 years in the Philippines through a two-day Korea travel fair!

To celebrate the 10th year since the opening of its Manila Office, the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO), together with the Embassy of the Republic of Korea and the Korean Cultural Center (KCC), is having the two-day event entitled: “2022 Korea Festival” at the Glorietta Activity Center and Palm Drive Activity Center, Makati City on September 10-11, 2022. The 2022 Korea Festival is expected to showcase the Past and Present of Korean culture and increase the interest of Filipinos to experience Korea through a grand Korea Travel Fair. This is the first time that the Embassy, KTO and KCC will be celebrating Korean Thanksgiving or Chuseok for an event together.

A collaboration of all-things Korean, the Embassy, KTO and KCC invite all Korean culture and tourism lovers to visit and enjoy the activities prepared during the two-day event. To highlight tradition and Korea’s history-rich culture, the activities attendees may participate in include wearing of Hanbok or Korean traditional clothing; playing Korean traditional games such as ddakji, dalgona candy and jegichagi; and learning Hangeul or Korean calligraphy. Since it is also Chuseok in Korea, we cannot miss to highlight Songpyeon or half-moon-shaped rice cake making and tasting session, which is a must-have during Chuseok time in Korea. Meanwhile, modern activities include busking and picnic experiences as if you are in the streets of Hongdae or riverbanks of the Han River.

Travel to Korea begins again as Korea welcomes back Filipino tourists starting June 1, 2022. From then until August 2022, Korea has recorded over 60% increase of Filipino tourist arrivals compared to last year’s numbers. To reignite the interests of Filipinos and make Korea their first international destination after the pandemic, KTO is partnering with seven (7) airlines and five (5) local travel agencies to offer special promo fares and installment deals just for this weekend’s Korea Travel Fair. These seven airlines include: Korean Air, Jeju Air, Asiana Airlines, Fly Gangwon, Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific, and Air Asia. While partner travel agencies namely – Ark Travel Express, Horizon Travel & Tours, Pan Pacific Travel Corporation, Rakso Air Travel & Tours, and Travel Specialist Ventures, will offer flexible payment terms and installment options available to BPI credit and debit card holders. As a bonus, visitors who will purchase within the promotion period from any of the participating partners may redeem special gifts from KTO.

To join the celebration, K-pop soloist and former SISTAR member, SOYOU, will come all the way from Korea to perform for Filipino fans on Sunday, September 11, 2022. She will serenade the audience with some of her best hits – “I Miss You” from K-drama Goblin, “Rain” featuring EXO’s Baekhyun, and mega-hit “Some” featuring Junggigo. Aside from Soyou, Korean talents Painters and Superstick will also come to Manila to grace the event. Live musical performances, travel quizzes and talk show, fun games, and mix of modern and traditional activities will complete the two-day program line-up on stage.
