MCS Roundup: All Time HIGH for All Time Low

All Time Low staged a highly triumphant return to the Manila Concert Scene with their recent MOA Arena Show. The venue was filled with their fans all locked and loaded for a good time – and the show truly did not disappoint as the boys showed everyone a fun time. Pop punk is indeed is alive with these Hustlers!

Kicking off the party was Chicosci. The hometown heroes blasted off with a set of their hits such as “Paris”, “Raspberry Girl”, and “Seven Black Roses” to name a few. The four-piece band went off-the-wall triggering a high-octane performance. “Ang saya!” exclaims front-man Miggy Chavez. And that shot of joy was a wonderful way to warm the stage for All Time Low.

Opening with the trio of “Lost In Stereo”, “Dark Side” and “Sleeping In”, All Time Low proved that they are still the energetic bunch we enjoy. Alex, Jack, Zack and Rian collectively dropped a set-list composed of their biggest hits such as “Weightless” to newer ones like “Monsters”, plus surprises such as the crowd-requested “Therapy” and a cover of The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights”. In between songs, Alex would share how honored they are to be in front of such a massive audience and how coming back to Manila is always a treat. To which, the audience returned with much adulation. Cheering, jumping, singing along to the band, this crowd at MOA Arena matched the high energy of All Time Low.

After an 18-song concert, All Time Low bade farewell in the midst of a confetti rain and loud roars. Taking a bow and waving goodbye…we’re pretty sure we’ll gladly see them again. After all, who doesn’t wanna have fun at an ATL show?

The long wait is over. After almost three years, rock band The Maine will come back to Manila for a one-night concert on August 27 at the Skydome, SM City North EDSA. Formed in 2007, the band is celebrating their 15th anniversary this year.

One thing is for sure: the connection with their fans will continue to be the heart of their shows. The Maine last visited our shores in 2019, when the band released their “You Are OK” album.

This is The Maine’s only show in Southeast Asia before they continue with their tour in Australia, the U.S., and the U.K. Filipino rock group Written By The Stars will be the supporting acts for the show.

BLASTER releases an exciting new single, “Nararararamdaman”

BLASTER has grown to be one of the most respected and collaborative musicians of this generation. With the release of his new single “Nararararamdaman” that is already out on all music streaming platforms, he demonstrates why he is one of the reasons local music is in good hands. Composed by Silonga, the song is a co-production with his band, the Celestial Klownz, who has been performing with him since live gigs resumed recently.

BLASTER says, “[Nararararamdaman]” is about the fear of growing old and missing out.” He adds that he was inspired by a scene featuring actors Ronaldo Valdez and Gina Parreno from the Filipino romantic comedy Labs Kita… Okey Ka Lang? (1998). He adds that in making the song, he wanted to capture what he calls the “paranoia of Frustrated Musicians” who found it hard to pursue their art because of how they were living.

BLASTER’s music has been known for its inspiration from the Manila Sound movement of the 1970s, the earliest attempt to make distinctly Filipino popular music. However, “Nararararamdaman” draws its inspiration from a more recent band that has made its own mark on OPM starting in the early 21st century. Blaster says that he was listening to the Itchyworms, known for hits such as “Akin Ka Na Lang” and “Gusto Ko Lamang Sa Buhay,” when he was composing his song. In celebrating OPM’s recent past, Blaster’s new single is a reminder that the talent and craft of his generation of musicians are what keeps local music going into the future.

Accompanying the release of BLASTER’s new single is a music video, directed by Daniel Aguilar, and it will be premiered at an event to be held on August 19, at 5:00PM in Imajin: Arts and Music, Marikina City. The event will feature a first look at the new video and performances from Halina, Hey June!, Lory, BLASTER and the Celestial Klownz and Lolo Roger. The event is presented by Island Records Philippines.

Mcoy Fundales releases latest single ‘Ang Forever Ko’y Ikaw’

Kapuso singer-songwriter and the original vocalist of ‘Orange and Lemons’ Mcoy Fundales releases a new single “Ang Forever Ko’y Ikaw,” under AltG Records, a sublabel of GMA Music.

The song was earlier composed by Mcoy as a theme song for GMA’s romantic comedy series ‘Ang Forever Ko’y Ikaw’ in 2018. Back then, the song was made up of only one stanza and chorus. But after sometime, he decided to finish it. “I want to put another stanza, arrange and record it properly. Nandoon kasi ako sa point na naghahalughog ako ng mga unfinished song ko. I want to finish them for posterity and ito yung inuna ko,” Mcoy revealed.

‘Ang Forever Ko’y Ikaw,’ which is produced by Kedy Sanchez, A&R Manager of GMA Music, is about the serendipity of falling in love and instantly knowing that the person is meant for you.

Mcoy is ecstatic that his single is finally out this year, “I’m happy to release this song because this is close to my heart and I have been thinking of releasing this for quite some time now. This song could have been released probably a year ago if not for the pandemic.”

Aside from this, he is also planning to release an album, “So far I have already recorded two singles for AltG Records and I already have two more ready. An album is possible if I will be able to write, prepare and record around two more songs.”

Meanwhile, Mcoy is happy to be able to juggle being a songwriter and scriptwriter at the same time, “Writing for TV and movies is still my main focus now but music will always be with me. I can always write songs, either for myself or for another artist, or for projects. I am privileged to be able to record and release singles for AltG Records.”

At present, he is one of the writers of ‘Pepito Manaloto,’ ‘Bubble Gang,’ and ‘All-Out Sundays.’

Filipino-Norwegian singer Clinton Kane performs in Manila this December

Live Nation Philippines proudly announces that Australian-based Filipino-Norwegian singer-songwriter Clinton Kane is bringing his highly-anticipated MAYBE SOMEDAY IT’LL ALL BE OKAY World Tour to the Philippines. The concert will be held at the New Frontier Theater on December 3, 2022.

Clinton Kane will visit Manila and will perform for his Filipino fans for the first time as part of his tour in Asia, as announced by concert promoter, Live Nation Philippines. He’s also set to perform in Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, and Tokyo. Tickets to his Manila leg will be on sale on Friday, August 19 at 10 AM via www.ticketnet.com.ph. For fans who have purchased tickets during the Presale, Clinton is now adding a special experience upgrade where you can meet him up-close, take selfie, and attend his soundcheck.

The Filipino-Norwegian singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist pens pop with “chords that soothe you and lyrics that bite you.” While growing up between Perth, Australia, and The UK, the self-taught singer, guitarist, pianist, and drummer ultimately found solace in music.
His debut album, MAYBE SOMEDAY IT’LL ALL BE OKAY, is led by singles “Chicken Tendies,” “I GUESS I’M IN LOVE,” “GO TO HELL,” and the recently released “14” via Columbia Records. The reflective record transports listeners to Clinton’s 14-year-old self and follows his inner monologue as he grows into adulthood.

In speaking about the new song, Clinton says: “This song breaks my heart into a million pieces every single time I listen to it. I wrote it two years ago when I was at my lowest with myself – doubting every single thing about me: how I grew up, where I’m from, and who I am. This song took a year to write, with 30 different choruses and verses being written to this track. I hope you find peace when you listen to this song and know that you are not alone in this world.”

The 2022 Vevo DSCVR Artist to Watch embarked on a sold-out North American headline tour. The 23-date run brought the Norwegian-Filipino singer/songwriter to Chicago, Boston, New York, Nashville, and more before concluding at Los Angeles’ El Rey Theatre.
