On July 13, 2022 Tunecore celebrated its official UNLIMITED launch in the Philippines at Astbury, Poblacion. Philippines is a primary market for TuneCore in South East Asia and having a local launch event reaffirms their commitment to help artists and elevate the Philippines indie music scene. Since Tunecore pioneered the pay-per-release model 16 years ago, it has become one of the world’s leading DIY music distribution platforms. Now, with the launch of the unlimited distribution plan, they aim to help artists unleash their full artistic potential by allowing them to distribute an infinite number of releases per year.
They have captivated our local audience with a USD 14.99 (roughly Php 800) per year plan where you can upload UNLIMITED songs for the entire year.
Cyrus Chen, Head of Tunecore SEA, mentions “We are now even more artist centric than ever. In addition to getting top level services and higher payouts, TuneCore artists now have the most affordable unlimited distribution plans in the market.”
He also discussed doubling down on localisation efforts and that e-wallets are going to be in the peripheral. Imagine, independent talents can soon upload songs and pay via GCash or Paymaya without needing a credit card. TuneCore will be the first regional player to offer expanded payment options. He continued, “We’ve projected internally that Asia is going to be the largest music market by 2028 and Philippines as an important music market in the region will definitely be seeing exponential growth in the next few years.“
Mony Romana, Head of Distribution of Believe, which is Tunecore’s parent company also adds, “The Believe team and Tunecore team will help every Filipino by having a localized service for artists in all stages of their careers.”
Cyrus added that the UNLIMITED plans also covers discovery apps like YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Tiktok and Resso. This comes in the form of the New Artist plan and is FREE (with no upfront costs), under a revenue sharing model. He also adds “There have been partnerships we are hoping to roll out very soon with Artkipelago, TMP, PhilPop, and more are in the works.”
Independent acts like Sawndass Music, Mix Fenix, FRNCHZ + Agaron and Nica Del Rosario kept the show pumping with their songs to celebrate this UNLIMITED launch. The show was hosted by Dash Calzado of Legit Misfitz.
Nica Del Rosario, singer songwriter of Tala and Rosas, talked about how important it is to be accessible and for a DIY platform having a local presence. Tunecore artist FRNCHZ, a native of Tacloban, shared that he is opening his label 65 Infinity with Tunecore. Some of Tunecore local artist are no stranger to success with Skusta Clee, Flow G, CLR, Martti Franca whom of which have millions of streams as the top independent acts.
