Rico Blanco, Maris Racal, Ebe Dancel, and more in Balcony Entertainment LIVE concert this June

After what seems like an eternity of waiting, fans are in for a treat as one of the country’s top management labels BALCONY ENTERTAINMENT is gearing-up for a most eagerly anticipated local live concert.

Balcony Entertainment Live – slated on June 11th at Music Museum in Greenhills, San Juan – promises to be an amazing showcase and celebration of local talent, as it features the country’s top acts, led by the ultimate entertainer RICO BLANCO, acclaimed singer-songwriter EBE DANCEL, pop superstar MARIS RACAL, lo-fi/indie songwriter and producer RAVEN, songwriting wunderkind ZILD, and modern alternative group NEVER THE STRANGERS.

The lineup alone speaks volumes about how the event promises to be the proverbial tour de force that aims to re-ignite the local music scene after a two-year plus hibernation.

“I welcomed most of these amazing artists into the Balcony family just in the last couple of years and mostly during pandemic,” Blanco (who doubles as Balcony Entertainment’s CEO…) begins to explain, when asked how the seed was planted and how the event came together. “All this time, I had the honor of guiding them and keeping them musically productive, even during the time when there were no gigs… we were able to churn out a lot of amazing new releases through the lockdown, but admittedly, I was really excited about the shows that would happen once things got back to normal: it was very clear to me we would have an incredible lineup for concerts and tours, and now I’m thrilled that we’re able to take this first small step.”

“I’m most-looking forward to meet the rest of the Balcony Entertainment family and roster of artists, since for the past two years, they’ve mostly been my ‘internet friends,’ says Zild, whose emergence during the pandemic was a much-needed shot of musical brilliance and magic for listeners. “It feels like a grand eyeball / meeting for all, including the different communities of music fans.” Fellow artist and singer/songwriter Ebe Dancel also shared the same sentiment and gave massive props to his fellow artists as well: “I’m such a big fan of Zild’s, it’s been ages since I’ve seen Rico perform – believe it or not – and I’ve never seen Maris live, so I am both a performer and a fan come June 11th.”

And speaking of Racal, the pop superstar shares: “I’m excited because it’s my first gig with Balcony Entertainment and it’s also my album launch – so I’m looking forward to seeing all the ‘mariestellers’ and to finally perform my new songs in front of a live audience.”

And the legion of loyal fans and followers – who have dubbed themselves the “Balconation” – are incredibly excited as well to troop over to the Music Museum to witness history-in-the-making. Without a doubt, their enthusiasm and anticipation for a musical showcase like this will finally be rewarded, as they collectively followed and supported the releases of the Balcony Entertainment roster throughout the pandemic. This is the perfect culmination of that fervent fandom – to be able to see and witness the live impact of the songs and material of the said artists.

“I’m excited for the fans to discover the other artists they might not have originally been tuned-in to,” Blanco continues, and adds: “I’ve had countless memorable performances at the Music Museum throughout the years, and I know that this particular first for the Balconation will be incredibly special as well.”

Tickets to Balcony Entertainment Live are now available through TicketWorld, and for information on ticket prices and purchases, interested parties can contact them through: https://premier.ticketworld.com.ph/shows/show.aspx?sh=BALCONYL22

Alexander 23 releases somber single, “The Hardest Part”

GRAMMY®-nominated singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Alexander 23 releases “The Hardest Part,” a somber track that grapples with loss and heartbroken nostalgia. Opening with gentle keys, “The Hardest Part” finds Alexander at his most vulnerable, remembering a friend he lost touch with, then lost forever. “I guess the hardest part of getting old,” he sings on the moving chorus. “Is that some people that you love don’t.” The song is a showcase for Alexander’s distinctive songwriting and his ability to transform heavy emotional moments into intimate, relatable pop songs.

Co-produced by Dan Nigro (Olivia Rodrigo, Carly Rae Jepsen, Conan Gray) and co-penned with Amy Allen, “The Hardest Part” is the latest taste of Alexander’s forthcoming full-length debut due out later this year. On an Instagram post the rising artist shared more insight behind the track, “I didn’t want to put it out. It felt wrong to commoditize grief, especially as so much of it wasn’t my own. I began to slowly send it to close family and friends, and the response was overwhelming to say the least. It made me reevaluate the song’s potential place in the world because it reminded me of what I have turned to music for countless times before, to feel understood when words and actions weren’t enough.”

Throughout 2022 Alexander has previewed his new sound – he shared eclectic, genre-expanding songs like “Crash” and sensitive moments like “The Hardest Part,” and “Hate Me If It Helps” co-written by Olivia Rodrigo. Alexander shared these tracks live while on John Mayer’s Sob Rock Tour 2022 tour and will continue to share new tracks next month as he heads to the UK and Ireland for shows supporting pop upstart Tate McRae. Later this year, he’ll play sets at festivals including Lollapalooza in Chicago and Life Is Beautiful in Las Vegas.

Shanti Dope and Flow G’s “Kamusta” is a reminder to go and check in on our friends

“Kumusta?” or “How are you?” is always a welcome question amongst friends. It’s an ice breaker for what would be the start of the conversation or a soothing acknowledgement to someone going through tough times.

Written in collaboration with Flow G, Shanti Dope’s latest release with the title “Kamusta” touches on a very delicate topic — depression.
Depression is a serious matter and we’ve lost many young and very talented lives because of this mental health issue.

It comes as a surprise that with Shanti Dope and Flow G’s persona as hip-hop artists such a topic can be an inspiration for a song; which only goes to show how well-rounded individuals they are and not just an echo for grunt and angst. In terms of the lyrics, the two rappers were able to bring up the important discussion regarding mental wellness and helped in the stigma of suffering from depression being removed, in their own special way.

If someone with depression does not find God for solace, a family member or a friend can help with the continued reassurance that help is always available. All it takes is to say, “Kamusta?” “Meron bang nakakubli sa likod ng ‘yong ngiti at kutitap ng iyong mga mata? Mabigat ba sa dibdib ‘pag laging pinipigilang sabihin ang iyong nadarama? Di mo gustong malaman ng mundo ang kahinaan mo Kung wala kang malapitan, Pwede mo akong sabihan.”

“Kamusta” will be available on all streaming platforms under Universal Records Philippines. The music video was directed by Jeremy Lim of Blck Mrkt.

Viva Live sets Arthur Nery’s first major concert

Simply titled “Arthur Nery”, the concert will be held on July 2, 2022 at the New Frontier Theater.

Arthur Nery cemented his hitmaker standingwith his song “Pagsamo” released in 2021. The single went on to become a massive Pinoy pop hit and even made it as the theme of the VivaMax movie “My Husband, My Lover”. To date, “Pagsamo” has over 200 million streams on Spotify, Apple Music, and on Youtube.

Arthur Nery broke into the mainstream some three years ago with his acclaimed solo album “Letters Never Sent”. The album yielded the single “Higa” that eventually became his breakout hit. Several tracks from the same album also made its mark, including “Binhi” and “Life Puzzle: but it was in 2020 that Arthur went white hot with a string of singles starting with “Happy w U” that was followed up with “Take All The Love” in 2021.

Arthur has also produced hit collaborations with other OPM artists including his duet with Janine Teñoso, fan-fave and kilig hit “Pelikula” in 2021. Recently, Arthur Nery’s latest single “Isa Lang” became a certified hit within a few weeks of its release, topping Pinoy pop songs on Spotify’s local charts.

Tickets are selling fast for Arthur’s concert, proving his strong appeal to his fanbase. As of this writing, both SVIP and Loge seats have already been sold-out. Viva Live expects the concert to be fully sold-out soon and advises Arthur Nery followers and music fans in general to not miss this music event.

Being Fancy: 8 BALLIN’ drops another bop

If the hip-hop collective 8 BALLIN’ hasn’t been on your radar yet, here’s another reason to pay attention to their music. With their latest single, “Fancy,” out now on all music streaming platforms, the group is proving to be one of Def Jam Philippines’ most promising young talents. Their song is a collaboration between the members of the collective. It was produced by Luigi “zp3nd” Tamayo and recorded at the Double RR Studio.

8 BALLIN’ says that they composed “Fancy” with an old-school, chill vibe to reflect the story of a young woman who is, in their words, “swabe kung gumalaw.” Her smooth moves, they say, reflect her “go with the flow” personality that consistently stands out. “We came up with a party vibe [for this song],” they tell us in Filipino, “but it is also chill.” The sonic mix will engage listeners in how they speak about their topic through rhyme.

8 BALLIN’ want people to ease into their music, they say, and “Fancy” fits into their musical trajectory by emphasizing a mix of old-school and new-school hip-hop. They add that their arrangement for this song fits well with what they aim to do with it. This fits in, they say, with the kind of ideal place where one hears it: in a classy club where, one will be “speechless” upon hearing the song. In other words, one is likely to put down their drink and stop chatting once the song comes on.

The group says that they have been listening to a lot of R&B songs lately from different artists, and they feel that the energy they draw from that fuels a song such as “Fancy.” They are excited to bring their energy to a live event in June, where they promise a “wild performance.”

“Fancy” is yet another sign that 8 Ballin’ is ready to make an impact on the diverse world of Philippine music.

Cheat Codes release highly anticipated dance album, Hellraisers pt. 3

Multi-platinum hit-making trio Cheat Codes, popularly known for their smash single “No Promises” (feat. Demi Lovato), are turning out new music at record pace by releasing their third album Hellraisers, PT 3, available everywhere May 27th.

Cheat Codes released the first part of their debut album Hellraisers, Pt. 1 in May 2021. Inspired by Trevor’s pop-leaning sound, the record featured tracks such as the lead single “Lean On Me (feat. Tinashe),” “Stay (feat. Bryce Vine),” “Do It All Over (feat. Marc E. Bassy),” and “Hate You + Love You (feat. AJ Mitchell).” The name of the album, “Hellraisers,” was the nickname given to the group by their late manager, Michael Theanne, describing the boy’s playful, adventurous and lavish lifestyle. The album itself has three parts – each part has a distinct sound influenced by each member.

Hellraisers Part 2 was Kevi’s Hip-Hop leaning album with hits including “Hurricane” featuring All American Rejects’ Tyson Ritter and “No Service in the Hills” ft. Trippie Redd & Blackbear. The album also had collaborations with UK rock royalty Oli Sykes of Bring me the Horizon, Charlotte Sands and international pop punk sensation Travis Barker.

Hellraisers Part 3 is Matt’s dance-inspired album. Coming off of their hit, “Payback” featuring Icona Pop, which received chart-topping reviews at the start of 2022, this album has been curated with the nightclub-goer in mind. Taking the guys back to their roots this album has powerhouse collaborators and will finalize the Hellraisers trilogy.

The Cheat Codes say “Hellraisers Part 3 is finally here! It’s the final installment of the Hellraisers Trilogy. Our vision for this project was to blend genres and create something outside the box of our normal sound. We wanted to make 3 unique albums that represented us individually but still stayed true to who the Cheat Codes really are.

Our main goal with Cheat Codes is to bring people together through music, and the fact that we’re able to collaborate with such amazing artists in pop, hip hop, electronic, and rock is a vision we’ve had for a long time! Hope you enjoy these albums as much as we enjoyed making them!”
